WHERE is this counter, how do I open it? I get the rules and undeer accounts, details the day trade counter is shown, It says DRAG and Drop but you cannot drag it outside the menu. Tell us HOW in specific language not like 'add' it to or 'open' it when we dont know what command does this action.
I get the rule, how do I install this handy counter! Thanks, I found the day trade heading under accounts, details, day trades but what do I do to see the day trades? this is listed #3 and they say add it to the heading, HOW? nothing happens when its clicked. Left click, or right click...I performed a day trade because it was profitable and I see no record of it or warning.
Why does every commercial end with the product using the satrical term "genius". Was this written in a different country that doesn't understand the reference?
trading Futures does NOT fall under the PDT rule, correct? so, if you have an account under 25k - day trading Futures multiple times a day is without limits or restrictions. Please correct me if i'm wrong, lot of contradicting info out there. 😊
Yup spot on trading futures is completely unrelated to pattern day trading. You can day trade futures with any account balance, and no limit on the amount of day trades.
Thank you for breaking this down! Could you advise please if the example below would be taken as PDT, and how many trades available I would have on Tuesday: 1. On Monday I open 1 ABC and 1 XYZ put spreads during the main session 2. On Tuesday I close 1 ABC and 1 XYZ put spreads during the main session
Hey thanks for the question! From your example, if you opened and then closed that put spread together (both legs in the same order when you open and close) then that would generate 1 day trade Monday. Then on Tuesday you do the same thing and you would also have 1 more day trade generated. Day trades fall off the counter 5 business days after it is made. So come say Wednesday morning you would still have 2 day trades on your counter. Until the following week Tuesday you would again go down to 0 day trades, and can then go ahead and start placing some more day trades. Another example is that you place 3 day trades on Monday and then the rest of the week you need to make sure you dont place a 4th (otherwise PDT EM call is triggered). Then come the following week Monday morning your day trade counter goes back to 0 and you can place up to 3 day trades again that day.
@@tastytrade_ Thank you for your examples! It's getting clear. However, if I open 1 spread on Monday, 1 on Wednesday and 1 on Friday, and then close them at the same day next week, would it be counted as a day trade?
I completely agree, the PDT rule is a bit ridiculous, as it only further restricts retail traders from getting access to all the abilities the markets have to offer. This is something Scott (our CEO) has been working on for a long time, and is trying to pull other firms and big players in the industry to push FINRA/SEC into changing the rule. What you can do though is trade in a cash account and day trade long options/stock without being subject to the PDT rule.
Just noticed today that you now offer stop losses on spreads. Not sure how long that’s been a thing, but I want to say thank you for adding it! That will be handy in the future for sure. My next “wish” would be a trailing stop loss for futures. I can’t begin to name the number of times I’ve gone to sleep looking at /ES thinking “it’ll be up by tomorrow morning “. A bracket let’s me set a stop but if the future moves in my direction 25 points and then draws back 40 points I end up losing 15 points. If I could set a 10 point trailing stop, I would have gained 15 points.
Hey thanks for your comment! I agree that stops on futures would be a major addition, especially with the 23/5 hour cycle its difficult to keep track of those resting orders throughout the entire day. The big problem here is that the CME doesnt inherently support/accept stop orders, and as a result it isnt simple in any fashion to have something like that setup for CME futures in specific. We are working on an internal solution, but for the time being, sorry for the inconvenience on not having those order types for futures on our platform! @@tastytrade_ your guys worked on think or swim.. and I can set up a trailing stop on ToS. I just don’t like TDA otherwise I’d use that. LoL I Love TT/TW, so it’s all good :)
i just read your post from lord knows when , but i've just opened a tasty acct and am so pumped to start churning out trades Monday morning, and as you , I too wish tasty will have trailing stops and hopefully a ladder system like many other brokerages , but ill make it work !!! just in the past 2 week ive been charged almost a grand in futures fees..... Talk about a really unhappy camper!!! For this reason and a few other im gonna just deal with how tasties platform is setup, When i save $$$$$$$ in my trades , I can actually enjoy my profits..instead of paying tos a fortune,. also the look and feel of tasty's platform is more proffesional and i like the simplicity of navigating. But for though it comes dowm to the tasty commisions rates and the awesome intraday and initial margins... I am Looking so forward to many successful years as a Tasty Trade customer!!!!!!!!!!
