Another great game! These 55 episodes have flown by, sincerely the best rating climb series I’ve ever seen. I especially like the demonstration at the end where the rook-knight exchange sacrifice was explored. It was a nice illustration to demonstrate how important the pawns in front of the king are (especially with so much material still on the board).

30:51 Wasn't bishop to d3 a MUCH stronger move than what is played here? Knight is no longer guarded by the queen (i.e. it's hanging now), queen has to move, and even if it moves and guards the knight somehow (very unlikely) the rook is there behind it waiting to be taken. A skewer AND a fork!

Don't be confused, that's just the power of the Vienna 💪 You say everyone knows this, but I rarely see d5, and when I do, I NEVER see f5. I usually just get good positions because they don't know how to follow up. I don't play those lines that you showed. Granted, this 1300 or lower. And because you asked, 5... f5 6. d3 Nxc3 7. Nxc3 d4 8. Qg3!? Nc6 9. Be2 and you pray for 9... dxc3?? where 10. Bh5+! g6 11. Bxg6+!! wins the game. Similarly, 5... Nc6 6. Bb4 Nxc3 7. bxc3 Qh4+ 8. g3 Qe4+ 9. Be3!? And if 9... Bf5 then yeah, you get kind of a tough game, but so many get tempted by 9... Qxc3?! 10. Ne2, and you get to hope for 10... Qxb2? 11. O-O! Qxb5? 12. Qxf7+! Kd8 13. Nd4! 1-0
