I have both Garcinia humilis (achachairu) and G. intermedia in my Florida garden. Here, G. intermedia is commonly called 'lemmondrop mangosteen'. I am in the subtropics (USDA zone 10a), and have never had either tree damaged by cold.
I'm suprised by how long the plant takes to develop! I germinated the seeds 2 weeks prior to germinating my jalapenos seeds, and the plant is still growing and has only now started developing flowers, while my jalapeno plant already has peppers ready to harvest :D
Hello, can you please help me? I have just mounted my stag horn onto a larger mounting board. But since it was firmly attached due to natural growth to the original board, I took out the single length of wire which initially held it to the board. Then I screwed that board with the plant on it to the new mounting board. Should I have taken out that wire? board
They absolutely thrive on black coal from a fire (broken up into smallish five cents/dime size pieces, i believe you can buy charcoal in bags as well!... simply scatter a couple of handfuls from the drip line (outermost foliage) in to the trunk, repeat every couple of months. The growth they put on after applying the coal for several months is amazing!!!
In the south of Colombia (Putumayo) we have it, and the name is the same, "madroño". I just can say, it is one of the most delicious fruits I have ever tasted
I have many of these little trees in my Florida garden. They take pruning well and produce fruit in the partial shade of my mango and avocado trees. When I first tasted them I thought they tasted a lot like peanut butter, but the more I've eaten, the less I think I think it taste like peanut butter, but I like them. They are continuously blooming and developing fruit throughout much of the year, but I get only a few ripe ones a day in season. Sometimes the fruits ferment on the tree, and I like those the best.
According to my research, Garcinia madruno is called "charichuelo", and is different from garcinia intermedia, or lemon drop mangosteen, which you are showing here.
Hi why do the mango leaves tip black or brown as if their burnt...i planted my newy bought Grafted Mango Plant in a container and i have kept it in my balcony because its monsoon season..Any quick suggestions why this could be and if i have any reason to be concerned about this
I've read you should remove the fruit/ flowers ONLY after the fruit on it gets to the size of a pea, otherwise it'll keep focusing on flowering & fruiting.
There is hardly any soil and the rhizomes are all crammed deep in the bag. No way on this blue earth could they have grown like that. She obviously shoved a harvest of a few square feet into that bag and cut it open just for this video. Nobody who knows how ginger grows would fall for this.
I live in Phoenix, Arizona where these are commonly planted in desert landscaped yards, yet it seems that very few realize that the fruits are edible. I think that they’re are very tasty❤
