Never say never ;) Shaving against the grain can cause irritation on sensitive skin. That's why we always recommend shaving with the grain first. The rest is personal experience. If your skin tolerates it well, you can also shave against the grain in a second pass to achieve an even more thorough result.

So if you shave for example monday,wednesday, friday and sunday on a week you should use 2 blades

Hallo @christianj8614, der Griff des COMPANION wird aus Edelstahl gefertigt, der Hobelkopf aus Zinkdruckguss. Beide Komponenten bekommen das gleiche matte Finish, so dass keinerlei Unterschied zwischen Hobelkopf und Griff erkennbar ist. In Summe also ein langlebiger Begleiter mit einem angenehmen Eigengewicht.

The numbers 89 and 41 after the R actually have no deeper meaning. The razors themselves were released under the TRADITIONAL design series. R 89 and R 41 were originally "just" article numbers, which over time almost became a proper name. Ultimately, R 41 refers to a safety razor with an open comb and R 89 to a safety razor with a closed comb.

We are delighted that you have returned to the classic shave. A quick answer to your question: The blades are sharpened so that they always work, no matter how you insert them. In any case, it makes sense to use both sides of the razor head when shaving. However, we are not aware that reversing the blade significantly extends its service life.
