The Fiber Circus Podcast is a podcast about knitting, spinning, machine knitting and dyeing. There will be travel segments as I travel the US teaching fiber classes and doing commercial sorting on farms. We will also visit the pasture to see the Sideshow that is Spotted Circus Alpacas & other critters.
Thank you so much for the info I have not found a site that gives in depth information for alpaca. I have been given a 11 inch white Suri and have bought black Huacaya alpaca, such a difference! You have given me a lot to remember, Thanks so much !
I have some currently up on Etsy but I have a bunch that I still need to get photographed and listed. If you let me know what kind of a fleece you are interested in I can go through and pull things for you!
I was a spinolution dealer for several years. I had a very big issue with their customer service and the continual upgrading with no previous model support on spinolutions part. Watching videos that spinolution did you could see the passion and desire to make sure a product was fully tested prior to every being released and even run to extremes to try and find areas that could be issues under that extreme spinning. Spinolution instead seemed to use its customers to test new products. I wouldn't ever go back.
you kept me company when had one of those broken sleep nights so common these days. May I recommend the aldi's seasonal teas? Loved the English Rose, liking the pomegranate, will try the ginger with gingersnap cookies for fika. Did I tell you I boiled some knitted alpaca and got a nice dense, springy fabric? 40 min is what it took but didn't need wool. Have been drop spinning to deal with this year and have quite the callouses even after hackling and washing the fibers. Feel you on the loss of in person but with this neuromuscular disease the risk you accurately stated is just too great.
This is a waste of time watching this. I thought this was a tutorial. You should put 'NOT A TUTORIAL' on front so others aren't watching and waiting for it too
Ameren got power on in 2 hrs here. Of course this is the time the 20 yr old fridge died. Rainbarrels are great, can do garden and flush toilets in worst of days and they are about $60 which over the 10 yrs have used them is good deal. Am eyeing the white fleece...
I think I had Covid, not tested as wasn't critical. Has taken 18 days to get sort of better, hope you don't get it. You don't have any alpaca fleeces up in your shop on Etsy. will you? On your hand spun think it would look awesome with a gold rather than black, you have the firestar...
To see sheepy-ness look at Sandi Brocks channel, she has a shearing team that comes out, so you can see how "old hand" does it compared with new guy. Shame all that wool just goes for little money and can't work it up. What is that bird call at the end? didn't really sound like guinea and ducks don't usually go that long...
Adorable kitty! I'm new to your podcast so not sure where your kitty came from, but many kitties carry a herpes virus that can cause weepy eyes. If it's a clear discharge, that could be the cause. It doesn't go away but gets told me it's not an issue as long as it's clear. Love the baby yoda. I found you through Instagram because of your kitty couch. That colorway is awesome. Haha I'm making one for my kitties and I've promised one to a friend for his little dog too. :-)
Glad for video, noticed you're not stuffed as when you are home. Really like the pooling of color in oil slick.. looks good. Hope you solve yak conundrum, never considered that.
When you first started you had fancy walmart project bags, love keeping it real. Think you are ready for the reusable grocery bag on this sweater. I do like AmyBeth but gotta save money to get more fleece dontchaknow .Safe travels.
So the rosy grey fleece has a wonderful home now? Glad lots of others love it too. Got sick start of May then end of May had adverse reaction to Levaquin, felt spinning around and tumbling head over heels along with massive muscle weakness and pain. Figured if I died with another fleece here son would kill me again, wasn't sure would ever get better til yesterday when dizziness finally eased to just annoying. Video of the mountains proved isn't really gone...Loved the stills and the Sirius shawl is awesome.
Yeah that grey fleece sold quick it was amazing. The drive into the mountains is quite the experience. As the driver I'm ok with it, did it as a passenger once and it got a bit nauseating
I was very tired before starting video so yawn right along with you. When you do these big shearing things can you pick up raw fleeces for those of us who want a raw fleece? like $30 or under? Are you going to show the overdying results on youtube? i love indigo and have wondered what that would do to the different colors but not having access to fleece of many colors and limited finances have been stuck in wondering. Was also wondering if overdying done on the raw, or washed fleece or on the finished yarn. I wonder as much as you yawn...
I don't do any indigo dyeing actually. Most of the fleeces at the sorts I do are sold commercially but I can keep my eye out for you. Any color in particular?
Really liking your brioche efforts. along the band can you tack that loop into the fabric with needle and thread?? Congrats on figuring how to correct mistakes in brioche, I can only do 1 row back well. My head wants to come help you shear but strength is really low lately and big strapping son only rolled his eyes... guess that is a no. Hope to maybe get to Greencastle to see it all.
