Fantastic video, and what's better, that is a high mileage 996 being driven very hard, in very hard conditions. The countless hours of engineering and testing is very evident in Porsche's engineering .... Brilliant!!!!
Horsepower is such a massively overrated Stat.. I come from Europe and there are so many tiny cars here, always have been, when you look at what people in the past did with Cars like the Trabant, the Beetle, the 2CV, they all had less than 30hp, but you could still see the world. Of course if you fatten up your car to weigh 5tons you need so much more power, but small tiny cars are, imho, so much better. Your little truck might struggle at times, but it can still carry so much more on his back than a normal person usually needs, not big F150 needed.
Those Carry trucks survived many typhoons and volcanic eruptions in the Philippines. You can trust it with your life. I remember riding on one during our Haiyan typhoon rescue🤣
Great video...I already read where you're using a stock battery system. Question - was this the manual transmission? ( I imagine so w this great figures) Thanks!
I know you have too make it interesting by constantly thinking you might not make it. But i own this car too which makes the video so awesome to watch being you have my 2 favorite things in 1 video national parks and the insight.. however if the insight didn’t make it that would be pretty sad because it was a manual i could tell by the display when you set off.. i averaged 70mpg without trying in the blue ridge parkway and did the entire road on 1 tank not only that but i rarely ever get below 65 i mean i have to absolutely beat my car just to do that.. so really you should of and could of made it to the tree no problem and then back to baker easily to get gas afterwards considering it’s literally all down hill.. oh also did i mention my battery doesn’t even work and yours does? My favorite car in the world wouldn’t ever trade it for anything i have driven it almost 75,000 miles in 3 years and i love it as much as the day i got it maybe even more.. i wish they were slightly more common for parts sake but this car is a masterpiece (just keep it away from floods and snow! Lol)
Thank you for giving this amazing little car its due. I miss my G1 every day. I'd be curious to know what (if any) upgrades you've made to the battery in yours, as this would've been a very different trip with a weak IMA system.
As a previous owner of a C4S for many years I have to say it’s a great car. I don’t even mind the funny headlights. The 4 wheel drive adds some safety and the wide body shape is beautiful. Certainly a future classic.
There's a RU-vid, sorry you'll have to explore and find the right one, but it's some Japanese Guy, he bought a used mini truck, but it's almost new and it is a proper factory made as a camper van. It has 4 wheel drive. He gives a running commentary in Japanese but has included excellent subtitles in the video, not just the automatic subtitles which are poor. So it is a pleasure to watch. He deliberately called up an out of season campground in some Japanese mountains. The guy warns him "it's snowy up here" "That's ok, he says I WANT the snow. He then shows him camping and driving around in the thick snow. Sorry if someone else remembers his channel name, please put a link on this thread, as it's fun watching. He shows the sale and delivery process as the he gets the camper. Lots of thanks and bowing ! Very polite Japanese.
You mean K-Coupy? youtube.com/@k-campercoupy?si=zgNZci0a5PPet-v6 He has a completely Japanese channel too with practically good subtitles called Coupy Channel, and that’s good as well :)
As for me, this thing is sure--that I do not rush this tiny trucks so that I may enjoy it the most. These aren't fast. But it can certainly deliver reliably. Cheers & mabuhay, from my end--the Philippines!
I enjoyed this treatment for the Suzuki Carry! As for me, this video is a cool treat & a homage to the Keitora. Cheers & mabuhay, from my end--the Philippines!
This is one of the best videos I've seen in a while. We need more of this humility in our society - a shift in focus from super expensive 3 ton SUVs, resource intensive electric cars, and flashy supercars that ultimately get bogged down in traffic anyway, to an appreciation for automobiles that do more with less.
