Hi Daria, enjoyed seeing your purchases! There’s an app for the envelope punch board that you can just enter the finished dimensions and it tells you what size paper you need. I’ve found it really useful.
I know this is an older video but just wanted to mention that the inks you use with acrylic stamps play a big role on the impression outcome. Dye inks work best. I don't use Ali's inks so I have no idea what kind it is. The pad looks squishy? If so, not the best ink to use. I like Ranger Archival ink, Memento, and StazOn for all my acrylic stamps.
Hi Cristina! Thank you so much for this tip. I think I might have a couple of Archival inks in my stash, so I will definitely give them a try with these stamps. Ali's company mentioned that they'll be switching away from a Chinese manufacturer, which I believe is who produced the SBTM stamps last year. But I still really want to use these stamps, so I appreciate you taking the time to share this info with me!
@@documentedbydaria You're very welcome! The only other tip I have for the teeny tiny stamps is to not press down as hard as you would for photopolymer stamps. :)
Hi Daria, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to create this video. I love stamping as well. I loved everything about it, there isn't anything else quite like it on YT. What a wonderful concept. Bravo! Keep stamping and documenting, dear!
Thank you so much for this lovely comment, Nicole! I really should make more videos about stamps, they are so fun. Thank you for taking the time to watch this video!
I like mixing up sizes too but I'm struggling a little with 6x8 for my 2022 October album, even though I love 6x8. I'm planning to go back to a life crafted album for 2023.
I am also questioning whether that is the right size for me for this project. I am still working on my 2021 OC that is in 6x8! I am loving mini albums right now :)
Almost all of my books went to school (I’m a teacher) and I separate them by genre! When I had them at home, I tried to do them alphabetically by author’s last name. Now I only have one shelf - I kept my original Shadowhunters books, my original ACOTAR books, and my new white Twilight edition because I love them a re-read them often! 😊 I mostly do eBooks now because I’m trying to declutter and a lot of my books don’t get re-read and they felt wasted and I was sad that they weren’t being read! Plus, books ARE expensive and I read anywhere from 10-15 a month right now 😂 back to work means I’ll definitely be reading less!
I love that you kept those book series as hard copies! And wow, 10-15 books a month is a dream! My best is 7-8, but lately it's been more like 4. Audio books definitely help with that. And so glad to hear I'm not the only one organizing books by genre ❤
@@pitbullmomplans totally understandable! I can't walk and listen to an audiobook. I need to sit in a chair and look at something peaceful while I do it 😂
Loved seeing you put this together, so simple & fresh! Excited you shared a link to that tiny alpha stamps set from Heidi Swapp! Ive been on the hunt for a sinple, mini alpha stamp, that’s perfect 💖
I love the pastel vibes of this spread- the little chipboard pieces are perfect. It’s great to document big and small things! That croissant looks amazing!
I feel like I’m one of the only people who isn’t an avid book reader that is also a scrapper lol. I am a reality tv/brain-dumb entertainment watcher 😅!
So beautiful! This is the first video of yours I have stumbled upon, and I loved it! I definitely subscribed. Where did you get your little star rating stamp? I'd love to use it in my journals. ❤
I love the way this week turned out!!! I also am not a fan of destashing lol. Was that Totoro I saw looking out the window? I’m totally loving the 6x12 idea insert- I’m going to have to look into that! I think my fave thing is now you used the rainbows on the vellum!
Thank you so much! I think PL is a great way to use up your stash, so I've had some success with that. And it's actually Moomin - he's a character in Finnish children's books. They're popular in Europe, but I find that most people in North America don't know about them! I got mine when I visited England last year :)
I almost jumped right into trying this project, but after hearing your process and thoughts I’m glad I didn’t lol. Especially since I’m brand new to modern scrapping lol. I’m looking forward to following your journey though!
Oh no, don't let me talk you out of it!! Haha. I think it's a great exercise in identifying things that are important to you personally. My documenting week wasn't what I thought it would be, so I'll have to make some adjustments along the way.
I can’t to wait to see how your album comes together. I’m doing WITL this week and printing photos everyday and putting them in the pockets, so hopefully I’ll have it done next week!
Just saw this video. Perfect timing. I fell in love with Montreal and want to document my visit. I will definitely use the resources you have listed. Because I am not an artist like you, I'm not sure how to start. Should I buy a kit? I Should I start with the actual Traveler's notebook or work my way up? Thanks for sharing.
So glad it was helpful, and yay for documenting your trip to Montreal! You may want to think about what will be easier for you: I started with scrapbooking in pocket pages and using kits, and then moved on to Traveler's Notebooks. Some people start with TN right away. The TN inserts are quite inexpensive, but the actual TN cover is not cheap, so it depends on what you want to do with it - there are other ways to store your notebooks that are more affordable. So it all depends on your budget and how much time you want to spend on making your notebook/album! It might help to watch different RU-vid videos to help narrow down the style you like. I hope this helps! :)
What kind of cloth do you use to get the ink off your stamps? I really want to stamp but I have seen that the ink can really stain the stamps and I really don’t like that 😬🥹
I use the Stamp Shammy from Lawn Fawn: www.lawnfawn.com/products/stamp-shammy?_pos=1&_sid=415fd9682&_ss=r I bought it from the Ali Edwards website, but it's currently sold out there - I think the link above is in stock. Before that, I just used a wet paper towel. I also don't like the staining, but it will depend on the type of ink you use. I find that Distress Oxides from Tim Holtz don't stain my stamps, but Archival Inks from Scrapbook [dot] com, for example, do. StazOn ink is the worst. Inks from Ali Edwards might colour the stamps a bit. It also depends on the stamps you have! The cheap silicone ones I think get stained more - I only use photopolymer and acrylic stamps. I hope this helps! Always happy to chat about stamping :)
I just came back from a long weekend trip to Montreal that was inspired 100% by you. I saw the city with different eyes because of you. I am new to documenting as I shared with you before and have found your process videos to be my "bible". Thank you so much.
Thank you so much! I haven't officially "announced" it anywhere else yet, I will once the move is over 😅 But I'm moving from Vancouver to a small town in Ontario. So a big change of scenery! I plan to do a video actually explaining everything, but after I move ☺
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I'm currently waiting on two Ali Edwards kits to arrive so that I can make more PL videos. Thanks so much for subscribing 🥰
Thank you so much for sharing. We're going to the UK in July and I'm so excited. Will definitely add Kings Cross station to my list so I can get a Harry Potter photo. I really like the idea of a TN, but I think it may be easier for me to keep notes on my phone while we're travelling and put an album together when we get home.
That's so exciting, Mel! I love travelling in the UK, and July is such a great time to visit :) I hope you have lots of fun, and get that HP photo :) And I absolutely agree, a TN is way more work 😂 I'm not sure if I'll do it again, but I still want to do a 10x8 scrapbook of this trip and print my photos really big :)
I've really struggled to get into a good routine this year but it's finally coming together and I'm finally getting to the crafty videos I've saved for some cosy crafting time. Thanks for the process video and I totally understand with-holding weeks or parts of your layouts due to privacy.
I am brand brand new to this form of creativity and in my hours of research I've found you. I'm extremely glad. You are very inspiring. I wanted to do the Project Life style scrapbooking but the Ali Edward subscriptions are sold out. Would you recommend getting a subscription from Paper Person? Thanking you for your time.
Thank you so much for your kind words! And how exciting that you are thinking of starting Project Life! You can definitely do it with supplies from other brands - I've tried Paper Person, but I think I prefer Studio Calico Documenter Kits more for PL documenting. Other people use Citrus Twist, and some other brands as well. For Ali Edwards, you can get on the waitlist if you'd like to subscribe - that's what I had to do when I started. She also sells previous kits in the Sale section of her website, as well as digital versions - if you don't mind printing out the cards yourself. I hope this helps! Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions, I'm always happy to help :)
