chk the tire pressure sensors first....i had a bad one on driver side tire and the service power steering light come on along with the advanced tracking and was very hard to steer .....free fix at discount tire cus of the warranty and my power steering is working again
All I did was remove the a/c compressor completely and it gave me enough room to take the alternator out the same way the a/c compressor came out all from underneath
My 2012 focus all of a sudden lost complete power steering it came up on the screen Steering Assist Fault Service Required so I limp it home and put my fixed code scanner on it and do a scan and get all of this which one of the codes has always been there the one that says (Pats) Key b10d7 but all the rest of the codes here are new, 1. B00C5 2. B00b5 3. B0052 4. B0050 5. B0028 6. B0020 7. U0154 please help I have googled it and RU-vidd it asked everyone I know and nothing no body knows, I do have tire pressure sensor on my car but not had a problem with it no code or flashing light for it and we have checked the rack and the boots on the ends are all in great shape no tares or damage it does not appear that any water could be causing the problem it was not raining nor had it been it was a nice warm dry day this just happened while pulling in to a parking lot of a service station please help any information at all. Thank you for your time.
When you get a power steering assist fault what I did was shut the car off , remove key from ignition, open the drivers side door, put key back in, start car, fault goes away!
May I ask why u have too remove the bottom cover and take the clips off the AC compressor it doesn't seem in anyway too be connected too the alternator
Excellent info. and thanks man.! I like most Ford products but this is a little obsessive I think. At least it's not Nissans, dance in a circle while swinging a dead chicken and fart to north..!! Actually I like the Nissans too.!
Thank you so much. This is exactly what happened to mine, I was about to tear down the gas tank and I watched this video. I can’t again thank you enough!!
Do you know anything about properly filling this LDZ transmission with fluid? I read there is a TSB about filling it through the backup light switch? when I went to drain mine and fill it from the fill plug on passenger side I wasn't able to get the full 2.0L of fluid in there. Now there is a slight humming sound coming from the trans at around 40mph. Is there a trick to getting the full amount of fluid in there?
Have a 2019 Fusion with this issue. RIGHT after having a tire place put on new tires and fixed the TPMS. :/ HAS to be related to that, as on the way home from the tire place I lost power steering, and it was working just fine before.
To all watching this video im no mechanic but our serpentine belt went and the car broke down. After buying a new one and figuring out the diagram and installing it we had trouble figuring out the diagram the battery died and since power steering has been out. People have been saying rack is bad but how unlucky could we possibly be? Lol like we literally started the car after replacing the serpentine belt and had this problem. Its crazy that a wheel sensor can cause so much complications smh. I feel bad for those thinking its their rack ($2k) when it can be a sensor smh horrible.
@@mulito7823 yes! The shop never flashed the new parts or relearned them. They just put the new parts on and bc the car drove fine they didn’t reprogram that shit. So another 160$ for me to have it flashed at ford and now it’s back to normal and everything’s fine. Unfortunately I have anxiety it’ll happen again bc everyone online says it’s impossible to know what’s wrong lol
So I have those same codes and traction control light comes on after driving more than 1 mile at 55mph or faster. I have changed vacuum pump, brake booster, hose from brake booster and o-ring between master cylinder and brake booster. No resolve. Ideas?
Still relevant. Sudden "steering loss, stop safely" out of nowhere. I was about to call for an appointment after checking the wiring and the fuses. Glad I saw the message at the end. I've been getting the tire monitor error since I changed back to my winter tires and figured I would get the faulty module replaced in the spring when I swapped back. (the tires are fine, its just a bad sensor) Never thought the two could be related. Battery's unplugged now, fingers are crossed.
Did it work? Haven't had issues with the tire sensor fault, but it has been on every other day from a nail. Actually have an appt to get Winter tires tomorrow so wasnt worried about it...going to give this a try for my Service Advancetrac and Service Power steering codes🤞
@@slayermcb For my fusion its been sitting for months (I went to school and left my car at home) and no one was taking care of it so the battery died so I changed the battery but my tires were flat then all of a sudden I lost my power steering, I honestly hope my powersteering needs a reset
Thanks for making this video. I just finished and wanted to point out that on my job (2016 Cherokee Trailhawk) there is absolutely no way to get the alternator out without dropping the engine down on the right side by removing the motor mount bolts and having a jack under the oil pan. Even then it barely has enough room. Luckily the replacement alternator was a tad smaller than the stock one so it went in easier. Also, It helped a lot to remove the radiator bolts and angle the top of the radiator towards the front of the car by a few inches. This allowed me to actually get the top alternator bolts from the top without specialty tools. All in this was about a 7 hour job for me and I have a lift and experience working on cars. Not for the faint of heart.
Good find on this buddy, You have a ground going from right side of engine block in front of the starter to the frame. That ground wire disintegrates. That’s where the issue is
Are your tire sensors bad tho? At the end of the video he does say that after doing research he has found that faulty sensors can lead it right back in that mode.
@@TB-hr9cb I just want everyone with a 2013 Ford Fusion to report this particular issue because NHTSA only recalled SOME of this year's, make and model for this issue when they SHOULD recall all of them because Many don't fall under their small umbrella. It's an extremely costly fix and Ford should be fitting the bill for Their mistake.
Having trouble sliding alternator back in. Seems that the mounting bracket of the compressor is making it ridiculously hard. Can I remove this? If so how many bolts. I see two
this is not true at all. this idiot believes tire pressure sensors have something to do with the power steering/ baa haaa haaa haa haa! fool! anyone who listens to this guy is a FOOL!
such BS! two different modules that have nothing to do with each other! are you a certified mechanic even? there's/was actually a recall on this issue, a TSB that knocked Ford motors company back millions of dollars, and you think you come up here and post something like this to give people false hope and make views!
I’m debating whether to get a 2010 Fusion or a 2003 Camry. What would you recommend? I like both but the Fusion sorta concerns me because of the issues they’ve had. But it’s newer and feels somewhat safer
My serpentine belt went then my battery died. Right After I fixed the two my power steering was gone. My rack was fine before that problem happened. Ford knew the bullshit they was doing. The dude above said it worked for like 2 hours and stopped. I know after this my next vehicle definitely won't be no shitty Ford 😅
People should be aware that both clutch forks are completely lowered or disengaged before banging on the clutch. And after the lock rings are out... one can heighten or engage Clutch B, which likely will pop the clutch disk off the drive shafts OR one could tip the transmission over onto a hard surface, dropping one side from 6 inches up, and when it lands flat the clutch will have likely fallen off onto the integrated bolts that the flywheel attaches to. Also, be sure to clean up and carefully inspect and ensure all 6 bearings on each fork move good before re-assembly. And don't forget to manually test (which also unlocks) the clutch and forks after the lock rings are back on. Cheers.
If you fix the pressure monitors and retrain them, it will still need a pscm reset. Check out the video posted by gridiron search gridiron ford fusion 2012 power steering reset. shows how to do it for free. The rack and pinion change is a rip off and doesn't fix the problem. its all programing
@@TB-hr9cbyou think it would work on a 2010 because i changed my battery and now my power steering needs service now and I have a locked steering wheel
Bro ion know If people haven't seen this but, U R DESTINED TO DO GREAT THINGS.... No need to panic if you purchase the proper tools. U R GO-GETTER.... With animals an a few items. Leave u alone.....U WILL THRIVE!! Great shit, my man! Thank u
Are you kidding?!?! 😆So it happens I was messing with the tire pressure monitors. I replaced a faulty sensor and then attempted to reprogram them with the EL50448 tool but it happened that the 4th one was also bad and couldn't complete the learning process. I didn't had an additional sensor at the time so I ordered one online and left the car like that, essentially, missing a TPMS sensor. I week went by and I left for a 200mile trip to the other side of the island and the PS quit on me then. Had to drive the car like that the ENTIRE weekend, not fun. I get back home and started researching the issue and found your video. I also scanned the car and it gives me code U3000-96-C8 which indicate R&R the rack. After getting a dealer sticker shock of $2000 plus tax for a new rack, I'm gona replace all the faulty TPMS sensors and try your trick and hopefully, it will work. Will post more when done...
@@emanuelagache Sadly, no. Bit the bullet and replaced the steering rack with a rebuilt unit from AutoZone. At $340, a good deal over my local Ford dealer that wanted $2k for a new one and were on backorder.
