Who knew how important this part of the film was going to become. AFAIK, this is the highest resolution of Kowloon Walled City. Amazing that they actually managed to be able to film there. I don't even want to know. Okay, I do want to know, how much money in bribes they had to make. At least, bribes with five TRIAD families. They would have had to pay British Hong Kong and China and possibly England as well. And they should have compensated the families who lived there that were disrupted, but I bet they didn't. Just amazing at the film they got. Especially there at the end I. The blue corridor. That bit gave me chills.
Same! I was only a dumb teenager when this movie hit theaters. I thought this whole scene was nothing more than a Hollywood stage, similar to the flashback of Kyle Reese's walkthrough of a human hideout in post-apocalyptic America in 1984's "The Terminator." I wish I had known I was looking at a legendary piece of history, and given it the proper respect it deserves.
I wish it still existed. I know it was an eyesore from the outside, but it had a certain character and grit to it that few other places even come close to. A culture that will never be experienced again.
@@sdgc8667Nope. It was a completely unique place of its time. There's slums all over the world, but only in Hong Kong did you have the population density that meant they had to build taller slums.
@@swolzer😂😂😂 Get real. Those buildings were completely unsafe for one, and whatever money they could have made from movies would have been piddling. While it still existed only a couple of movies ever filmed there. 😂
Ok... I have to ask, how is that when they are moving forward there's no light on the top, but when they show the American actors following up, theres cool spotlights in a row?
It is a level in Shadowrun Hong Kong. You visit the walled city a couple of times. I never got around to beating the game because the dialogue is just way too much and uninteresting but I think at the very end of the game the showdown is in Kowloon Walled City.
Great scene and great soundtrack. Its only a Film,i know. But this place is the hell on earth.A real nightmare for us cosseted Europeans. So dark and creepy.Impressive.
I won’t enter in the kowloon wall city when inside the people always staying alert all the time if any of the crimes appear at somewhere but even one day if anyone wants to go outside of wall city, that might be very difficult to find a way out from this dark corridor!
This is NOT acurate of what Kowloon really was - yes, it was dark and dirty and wet, but the people were a community, they were happy even in poverty, because kowloon was outside the law and government, and the people were free.
I don't understand how this isn't "accurate." This scene doesn't really show any inhabitants. The footage is real and the people shown inside were actual locals. Once they reach the tournament gates is where the real footage ends.
