Basic training is perfectly designed to get you killed. It’s not enough. They don’t go over the most important topics without which you are a dead man riding. If not for RU-vid videos (better than this long winded blah blah) I wouldn’t realize how important it is to do intermediate and advanced courses BEFORE jumping on any bike.
I bought a saddlemen solo seat and it was painfully stiff and added no support whatsoever. I tried to break it in but after 1600 miles, it has beoken me. I'm buying a mustang seat instead this week
I've found that the easiest, most efficient way is to to ride it down to my local bike shop and give them $25 to align the belt. They're right next to a local craft brewery so it's a win-win.
Oh wow, as a fellow Indian rider I just stumbled upon one of John’s super helpful videos, only to learn that he died in an accident. I know this is very late but I wanted to say I really admire that you decided to capture these intimate moments and to share them with the community he built. And thank you for leaving his videos online for everyone to enjoy; even today, John is making a positive difference in the world. Wishing you continued strength in dealing with your loss.
I’m from Kerrville, been thinking about a scout bobber. Love the way it looks but I know the gas tanks are small. But to cruise out towards Leakey and Hondo through utopia and vanderpool I don’t think I’d need a huge gas tank.
Get Yuh bike up to spec yes, with these products. Then maintain with a non-abrasive wax. Maybe once a year in the spring use compound but don't forget if used too often you'll take Yuh clear coat off...not good!
2 years later…. I just ordered my 1400 moving my NeoTec 2 to a backup position. Mainly for weight reasons, NeoTec modular is pretty heavy and I have a bad neck. This review was helpful, so thank you 🙏🏻
I've had one on my Scout for a few years, then it started failing and tripping the ECU into fail safe mode killing the throttle. The Cruise computer was bad, and the company admitted they had problems with some of them and revised the design. I insisted on a replacement and got it, the past 6 months it's been working great until today when the CEL came on after cancelling cruise and I had no throttle response. Had to shut the kill switch off, then back on, to reset the throttle so I wouldn't get run over by traffic. I don't recommend this cruise control, it's going to get someone killed.
What seat is on your bike? I bought the comfort seat and the 1920 solo seat. Not really happy with either. I’m having a tough time with the hard ride and trying to find the sweet spot.
Get a die hard AGM powersports battery. I have one in my 2003 Victory V92C. Those bikes are notoriously Hard on batteries. I've had a die hard in my Victory for 3 years with no issues. Just go get one and dump the OEM battery. Then no more problems.
I am so buyijg 1 of these the min I move down to Florida from NY within a few months. My only dilema is do I go Bobber, or Rouge. I keep going back and fourth. Bike sounds amazing
Thank you! I have a 2022 Indian Super Chief Limited. I had to take the rear wheel off to get a tire mounted at a Honda dealer (I didn't want to wait all day at the Indian dealer). I didn't think about having to adjust the belt tension. The service manual is really vague about how to actually measure it. You made it very simple. Thanks again!
First and foremost, my deepest condolences to the family of Dadwithabike. 🥲 For everyone finding this video in 2024, FYI: As of June 2024, the Legends AXEO cartridges that fit the 2018 Indian Scout Bobber have been discontinued. I managed to find the last one at a dealer last week and just installed it today. Dean Speed seems to have stock for other year Scouts but it doesn't look like the ones they have will fit the 2018 ISB.
First of all let me say I will immensely miss dadwithabikes videos. I was so sad he passed. Regarding a 8,000 mile later review of this exhaust I say RUN AWAY! : All my bobber lovers out there: DO NOT BUY THIS PIPE! There is a reason for the lack of videos after 7 years. Mine became deformed after 8000 miles. Installed at dealership with intake and pv3 tune. The design to fit the scout was rushed. Unlike tbr 2-1 on Harleys the Headers are seated vertically not horizontally and held on by 2 springs, pressure and hope. The company was pretty lame when the shop noticed bolts missing. They recommended a trip to the hardware store. When the mechanic called about the leaks at the vertically seated seams the response was 1: the metal can deform when starting in cold weather. 2: Our exhausts are not meant for full time use, track only and 3) You can send it to use to fix the deformation at your expense. Whatever you guys and gals choose look how it fits together in addition to looks and sound. I was aware a 6 inch heat shield was all it had so I can;t complain about melted riding gear (most likely happened when backing up feet on pavement) but it is like having a fire by your leg. If you touch it you will get burned. Heat wrap is gnarly stuff and in my opinion looks bad on nice new bikes better on hot rods and rat bikes. Side note: Pretend Carbon fiber end cap on a bobber..
All excellent points. The cones and/or large empty parking lot practice is huge. The best gear and a shit load of parking lot practice. I turn 70 in September 2024, been riding since I was 11 and when I get a new/different bike I wear the parking lot out. I have, just now, 2 200 plus mph bikes, an off-roader, and a Spyder RT Ltd. to take my wife for rides. Don't let your ego ruin your life, get solidity squared away, and then go f some stuff up!
Careful! Your really scraping the floor boards and don't want to low side " riding it like you stole it". 😊 What year is hour bike? I believe the lean angle is better on the Heritage in the latest model year or 2.
I live in Central Texas too. I'm in the process of trying to buy gear to take the MSF amd then planning to get a Heritage. I'm 6'3" about 215-220. I need XL Tall in shirts and jackets. I'm looking foe gear that will be good for this area eith all the heat. What gear do you use in the summer and what do you recommend?
IMPORTANT feedback to lightweight motorcyclists. I have progressive 444’s on my 23 Indian Scout Rouge and I weigh 130 pounds. Leather saddlebags, sissy bar and some supplies barely gets me above 140. I’ve got about 1/3 of an inch of preload on the shocks and they are absolutely MAGNIFICENT! Rest his soul, and much gratitude for all of his highly informative videos. But his last point about staying away from the shocks if you don’t weigh very much is NOT my experience. They’re just fine. What a difference!
Was yours very stiff at first? I weigh 140lbs and didn't add any pre load. I can barley even move the forks now. I've heard they may have a 1,000 miles break in period. Was that your experience?
Hey! Cool bike and mods. I am looking forward for dean crash bars, but somewhere I have seen crashed bike with these and bike frame was broken at the area where crash bara mounta with bolts.
I installed this on my wifes 19 scout 60. Partly because of your review video. Hers does drop out when using the clutch though. Very happy with that, brakes and clutch disengages it.
