Hey dude love the reverse trike car thanks for the inspiration and taking the time to post and set up quick question : How did you attach the wheel hub to the square steel Did you keep the rear brake ? If so Was it drum or rotor If you could do it again would you add suspension ? How long if welded properly could I expect to drive without suspension ? Have you had a wild mishap operating a trike as a daily driver I can expect or can avoid ? How many miles have you taken it ?
I really prefer to use the car body as the frame for simplicity. The brakes, radiator, stearing, power train, shift linkage and on and on are already wrapped up in one nice functioning and tested package. If weight is not an issue I would prefer to cut the car behind the gas tank so as to preserve the fuel system and lines too. Also I have learned to keep one of the rear brake lines intact to make it easier to mate to the rear wheel salvaged from the cut-off half.
Nice! Just what I was looking for, looks pretty stable. I'm planning on building a tube chassis reverse trike from an old VW diesel. I'll be using the steering, suspension, and drive train. But I was a little worried about tipping when braking hard. Thanks for the video.
@Dojocho Its amazing that you have to convence people of that. It would seem they could figure it out but so many people just dont have a clue. Same thing with cows too and reduces damage to the field in wet weather.
@rayolson01 searech for a bale unroller? they have several kinds they have a 3 point one for a tractor we have one you have to keep pressure on the bale though or it wont unroll
Heres a cutting tip. Angle the torch in the direction of travel as demonstrated here. The molten metal doesnt come back into the gap when done properly. Also go fast enough so the flame doesnt melt the metal after the cut .
Yes he burned a lot of rods for sure. At least two boxes. Within two weeks he learned 7018, which is very liquid and hard to control. To put things in perspective; When I went to welding school I didnt even begin 7018 till we were 8 weeks into the 6 month course. I wish he had more time to learn some pipewelding basics.
