On top of all the lectures about Pre-Production, Production, Post Production we give our students the unique opportunity to make their own short nature documentary (three minutes) about a topic of their choice in our area. Please visit our website for more info : www.beyondborders.co.za
This channel portrays some of our students work such as the short documentaries they made during their 25 day course with Beyond Borders Wildlife Film School.
They are much smarter than those ole nasty Macaques!!! The only thing that would drive you nuts is all the screeching noises they make. It's just a normal thing but very annoying. I would not want a wild animal as a so called pet thanks can live 50 yrs. Can you imagine changing diapers on a hairy wild animal for 50 damn years. Washing feces out of that hair. They need to be left alone in the wild .
People always use the lifespan comparison to justify their captivity, but that is because they don't have to forage for food or deal with predators. Ask yourself if you would rather live 50 years doing what you chose or 75 incarcerated away from other people (oh, but you would only be fed organic and healthy food) by a more dominant species......
I'm not sure about being "The" smartest in the land, but I do agree that they are a very smart species! Just have a look at "Monkey Boo" as a very intelligent capuchin monkey living successfully as a pet.
No such thing as a successful pet monkey. If you study Primatology you'll see the signs of maternal deprivation on Boo such as digit sucking (he sucks his fingers all the time) self grasping and rocking....... Baby Capuchins stay on their Mom's backs for 2 years, Boo was stolen from his mother when he was 3 days old. There is no way that you can take an animal as smart or social as a monkey from it's mother and it not have a negative impact on their psyche. Also, you are watching about 2 minutes of his life, why do you think Pete removed his testicles and canine teeth?
They are pretty d*** smart and understand a lot n a lot of these other monkeys are not as smart as what people say..they're smart for an animal and they can do things that some animals can't because they have hands and arms and legs but They're still pretty stupid compared to people
Then which is? They're speaking just of monkeys, not including apes (like obviously apes are smarter than capuchins). I can't think of a non-ape monkey species smarter than the capuchins, but perhaps I'm wrong.
This comment makes no sense. Primates are a large group of various different animals with completely different diets ranging from almost exclusive carnivore (such as the insect eating lorises) to exclusive herbivore (such as gorillas). Among primate species, the vast majority are herbivores that eat primarily fruits, leaves, seeds, and roots. Depending on species, many eat insects. The consumption of meat other than insects is the exception for primates, not the rule. Species that sometimes catch and eat small animals include some monkeys, chimpanzees, and obviously humans. Biologically speaking, humans are natural vegetarians that have become opportunistic omnivores due to technology. Our systems are not biologically designed to eat raw animal flesh, but the implementation of fire for cooking has enabled us to take advantage of eating meat, and has served us very well (this ability to cook and consume meat is thought to be what enabled our brains to evolve from chimp size to the size they are now). TLDR yes humans are omnivores, but we're also perfectly designed to sustain a vegan diet too, and your primate argument is silly given that veganism is common among primate species.
@@mchevre Just can't accept that some animals including us are biological omnivores. Chimpanzees yes eat a lot of vegetation, fruits, nuts, termites but they also hunt & eat monkeys, bush babies, wild pigs, and small antelope.
@chakur25 Adult vervet are cute... to me these guys aint so cute... it's the fact they look a little human but not quite, like little burn victims,,, but thats just me...
"Would you agree Capuchin monkeys are the smartest monkeys in the world?". Nope, not if they live up to 50 years in captivity, but only 20 in the wild. They sound more like humans in places where life is cheap and people live till they're 50 not 80.
Then name a monkey species, not including any of the apes, that is smarter than the capuchin. Like, maybe the macaque? Maybe the spider monkey? My money is still on the capuchin though.
