Hi, Cranjis Mcbasketball! You are in for a treat. Listen to your body as you start the hike. The starting elevation is already high so it might be quite a change, more as you hike up. Give your body some time to adjust to avoid dizziness/lightheadedness. Some challenge themselves by running through this trail. I would personally take my time to appreciate the views, overlooks, and how the landscape changes as you will not likely see the sections twice, especially if you will be taking the tram down. You can wear a pair of rubber shoes or even sandals but please consider wearing hiking boots. Stay hydrated for sure. Make memories and enjoy!
Thank you, Venture lyfe ! Yes, self-care and seeking spiritual clarity help make us and things better. Slowing down and even taking breaks allow us to see things clearly, closely, or from afar, amid the routines and daily grind. Even machines need to be repaired, rebooted or reset to work well. Have a great and restful day!
Thanks for the vivid thought Armed Bacon. 😀 Thinking of the area of the island, that is scary indeed. The ponies' ancestors survived the Spanish shipwreck 500 years ago. Hope they'll survive a tsunami as well. Have a great day!
@Wrclb It is such a unique seashore camping area, isn't it? The island has so much to offer. Hope we could all get to camp out there again. Have a great day!
Thank you gbwildlife uk for that stimulating thought. Yes, the unfortunate ejections of Native Americans from the national parks happened to give way to natural and cultural preservation efforts, like in Yellowstone NP. There are two sides of the same coin. Have a great day!
@@beyondbordersventures "natural and cultural preservation efforts" i dont think the Navajo were ruining it or turning into a money maker and havent you heard, its us ruining the planet! Have a greater day!
Hi, Richard! There is an RV camping as well as a (day) parking lot by the beach, close to the entrance. Here's a related vlog to check: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wLRQ7aobcxs.html Hope it helps. Have a great time out there!
We are going to do the La Luz trail in July. How many hours did it take you to hike up? It looks like you hiked up and took the tram down. The tram brings you to the parking lot where you parked? I am wondering if, instead of an early morning hike like I planned, do a later afternoon one to see the sunset and then take the tram down? Do you think it would be too hot in the afternoon? Thanks
Thank you, Dawn! Some can finish the hike in five hours if hiking lightly. We took our time and stopped at some cool spots and overlooks. The trailhead of La Luz actually is by a different parking lot. We chose to park at the tramway and took the connecting trail to the La Luz trailhead. It is a good idea to get a map at the visitor/information center. We hiked in June and close to noon time. There were a lot of vegetation halfway through the hike to take cover in so it was alright. We brought plenty of water and food to be safe. There is a city overlook and now a restaurant by the tramway and at the end of the La Luz Trail where people can rest and eat in. Those should be good options for you in case you choose to take a much earlier hike and still catch the sunset. The unique terrain is definitely something to experience. Have a great time!
You can't bring your own firewood? Yea okay... Like people are gonna listen to that kind of demand... Especially when they charge you an outrageous amount of money for such a small amount of firewood.
Hi, Brien! It is really at 6 or 7 but there are a couple of sections that will surely make you want to turn around. Just push through with it. Have a great hike!
Indeed, Cassie DMV! I've learned a lot and this place is the best caverns I have ever visited. Enjoy revisiting some of the sights here. Have a great day!
Assateague Island State Park (Maryland DNR) side is quite nice too - Hot showers; campsites can be booked 1 year in advance. Nat'l park has ocean and bay side sites; state park is ocean side only. Flies can be brutal (they bite!) but are generally better on the ocean side than the bay side (thanks to the sea breeze); carry bug spray.
@@nancythomas6707 Hi! There is a restroom area and I believe an open shower or at least a water source by the public beach area. I wish I can be of better help.
Hi, Janet! Thank you. Yes, we tend to hike with walking sticks to feel more balanced, especially when carrying gear or lots of water. Most do not need to bring any for this hike though. Have a great day!
Hi, Jamie! The hiking likely took five to six hours in total. Still, you will definitely need the whole daytime to explore or simply enjoy the unique natural beauty. Better yet, camp overnight by any of the lakes. We sure saw a few who did just that. I hope this helps. Have a great day!
Great video presentation but why not let the natural sounds of the wild life be the background music instead of this upbeat Urban mix? Doesn't seem to fit the video in my humble opinion.
Make your own. Stop criticizing those that make content. Don’t like the content, go do some yourself. If you’re better you will outshine everyone. Don’t just sit on your ass and hate creative people that actually DO stuff
Im planning on doing the kayaking tour this upcoming month, what do people usually wear? Do you recommend doing the tour or just renting one for the whole day? Thank you!
Hi, Ana! Any comfortable clothing like workout clothes or any casual wear should be fine. You can get wet. I have yet to join any tour but I believe the river is best explored and experienced at your own pace, especially if you want to relax. You should be able to enjoy everything within the limits in two to three hours time. A friend was there two weeks ago and he took note of how well the staff are maintaining safety. I hope this helps. Have a great time kayaking!
Hi, Chris H! It took half a day or maybe more than 6 hours to climb up through Hunt Trail. We regularly stopped for snacks and to take in the view. There were random showers that day so we had to be extra careful, especially when scrambling. Enjoy!
Guess what.. I was there today;) I’m in Maryland right now I just came home just don’t go in the ocean by your self because the waves are BIG I had my dad come with me and that sting ray looking thing I saw that at the visiting center we saw a educational show there it was fun and it took FIVE HOURS and it was worth it;)
Check out Peaks island right off Portland, for an AWESOME day trip. Ferry leaves every half hour or so, and FREE coming back. Such a cool island, little shops, inns etc . Rent a bike for few hours and bike around island, especially the southern coast area is sooooo Maine. Beautiful.,, loved ur video btw!!!!
