I guess you either evolve or die. CEF have put their money where their mouth is and have invested heavily into their online, next day delivery and renewables sectors… Say what you like about them you’ll be hard to knock them. Doesn’t mean they’re not going to fail. It could all come down…
💯 agree. Their service by all accounts is tough to beat as well. That all counts for something. I do think their online model is better than anything I’ve seen as well
Great show. Electricians are probably the most smartest of all the trades, however instead of embracing the CPS like NICEIC/NAPIT and working with them to make the government change legislation so that all insurance companies must have a valid EICR from a CPS stored on one central database which is linked to the persons carrying out the scope of works for all types property before issuing yearly insurance certificates. Instead too many of us complain about the yearly subscript fee which in my opinion is great value for money, especially the CPD you can obtain from webinar. This could move our industry to a fully protected Electrician scheme over the next 10 years. just saying.
Thanks for watching! Great feedback as well! I 💯 agree that the skills within our trade need to be maintained and we have to create a mechanism for increasing the difficulty for non quality electrical people to carry out works
Thanks Mate! Service is a huge part of our industry because time is how most electricians make and save money. And like James said nothing leaves a worse taste than bad service
having done some container work i understand that feeling its always your excited and pumped up the lorry turns up they open the doors you get that feeling of yes i made it in the world. you start the slow task of unloading the top stuff at the back. your hammering through carrying 3 boxes at a time loading pallets up having a whale of a time get half way through the driver comes how long are you going to be your arms and legs ache your down to 2 boxes at a time. 3/4 done the drivers back again how long you going to be you get that feeling as your looking at pallet loads of stock will it all fit in. your arms legs back and knees ache your down to carrying one at a time hauling pallet loads 30ft you get to the end look at everything a you think have i bought to much and how am i going to sell it all and you just want to crawl into a hole and sleep for 3 weeks. but you have to be back the next day to sort it all out what a rollercoaster of a life.
So true about using proper footwear. Got a cheap pair of steal toe cap boots once. They chewed up my feet on a 14 hour shift. Had to bin them. I like the sound of the documentary.
I’m nobody well known, not an ‘influencer’ etc. Will is super helpful in real life too. What you see/hear is what you get and he’s not trying to push his products on you. If you need help he’s there to assist you. Thanks Will (from north Scotland). R
Will, I'm sorry to be the source of speculation, but speculation will always abound when there are no official statements and rumour is doing the rounds. What's happened is a pisser as I know you put your life into Verso and had a passion for the brand, but that same passion and drive is what will ensure your success in whatever you move on to.
Really moving to hear your story and sorry again for my thoughtless tweet - I’m sure you will go on to great things with the excellent reputation you have built. Loved the Hager comment too 😂
Well done for your honesty sir. We have all quit jobs. I never knew until I saw this. You have explained nicely exactly why I do not engage with the social media influencer side of the industry. I don’t wish ill on anyone but some folks just want the world on fire for no reason but they need the heat. Health before all. Wish you the very best in your future journey.
Will, you've shown great courage to put your family and your personal health before a buisness your have put your heart and soul into for eleven years. Your a man of conviction with a amazing passion for this industry. I hope to see you back as soon as possible we are better place with you involved.
Fair play to you mate! Jordan was bang out of order jumping to conclusions on the back of Savo's fair comment on youtube! You are Mr Verso and it was a pleasure meeting you over the last couple of years at the Elex shows.
@@TorqueUp obviously regs would be followed but my current field of work im not involved in those kind of properties. what I meant is dont proactively upsell them i issue specific T&Cs regarding AFDDs mainly regarding fault finding. Mine as you know have been a nightmare and its definitely given me a perspective in what could happen if id installed at a customers just not worth the agro.
@@rickybyrne8185 I think you nailed it there. But putting them in your own house first to figure out whether you'd have issue was a stroke on luck and genius! Have your issues been sorted now then?
@@TorqueUp yes and no, so the tripping has stopped since i replaced the grid switches which leads me to think it was that, that may have been the issue with the arching, between the last trip and the grids going in there was a Hager update so im going to see if we can roll back to confirm of it was the switches or the washing machine. But either way if it was the switches then Hagers device has been operating correctly on detecting a fault its all theory at this stage but but this is my own independent investigation so no bias is clouding an opinion
Hager won't change it. They didn't change the RCD'S that didnt trip on 5x testing inside 40ms. They got the regs changed so the test was removed. Also, there are no testers for AFDD'S so how are we as electricians supposed to test them and make sure they are still working suring a EICR?
Did you know that in the US they have been using AFDDs for ages and they have testers? So I hope that one of the major brands converts them for 230v and launches them asap Would help everyone
@@TorqueUp question is do they US AFDD work the same as ours as ours tend to have a micro processer in them. if us have had them for ages they might be using something other than a processor and would then determine of the tester would work on our..... but not Hager's coz they don't work properly
If you watch the Hager video, once the flame is seen it immediately disappears once the power is cut, but it’s this illustration that I think still causes people concern 😕
@@TorqueUp it’s ment to work like air tags when should pick up of anyone else with one key app but hardly anyone uses it. Air tags definitely worth it as loads people have iPhones
When I had my van done, the police did not investigate then I lost my no claims on my insurance. So when it came to renewal of the insurance I had to pay more due to the loss of my no claims bonus. Then of course the loss of earnings due to the van being off the road and loss of tools. I was chatting to a work colleague and we both said we would rather pay the robbing f***** not to touch the van.
It’s crazy, you become a victim of a crime then get penalties for it ongoing from the companies you pay to support you with it. The whole thing is a joke and something needs to be addressed with it. Sorry to hear you went through all that fella
The biggest issue with tool theft or tool theft from Vans is the police are too busy to investigate it. I mean if they go to the car boot sales they will find stolen tools. Next thing is they need to do a minimum of 5 year prison term for tool theft or handling stolen tools.
Tougher sentences should be a must. But like you said if no one investigated them no one is going to prison for it. Do you think van’s could be made tamper proof?
@@TorqueUp The manufacturers of vans need to do more. They should have factory fitted reinforcement plates in the known weak areas. If they are unsure of what the weak arears are then look at the after market stuff that has been fitted to their vans. Vans also need to be fitted with better alarms that sense people walking around the van before the break in. This could maybe send a mesage to the owner or pop up on their app. People have said that it is harder to get into a tin of SPAM than get into a Ford Transit.
What surprises me is that one of the manufacturers don’t see this as a huge opportunity to gain one up on their competitors. Imagine if one of them developed a van with all these features as standard … it would be the highest selling vehicle in the country OVERNIGHT!
Great episode guys! I've spoken to many tradespeople and small business owners about getting more enquiries. One thing I've found in common is that sites like Check A Trade/Trust A Trader don't provide any opportunities for the majority of their members anymore as they are too saturated. And it does nothing to promote your business on Google or social media. Literally throwing money away that could be better spent on a good website or local ads.
My inspector does check my EICR/EIC forms but that is only because I am registered for them. As you say there are many `electricians` out there that undertake the work or inspections (or not - remember seeing certs from flats and every property had the same readings!) The clients also need to be better informed and look for approved contractors not just the cheapest options - essentially they can easily see how much the kit costs on top of that is registration fees, insurance, calibration, ongoing training etc so alarm bells should ring if the quotes are too cheap. The focus should be quality driven for longevity through competent installers and approved and certified products.
100% agree. The question and challenge I suppose sits with who takes that responsibility and how can repercussions be implemented, Should certain standards of safety not be met? Is it something that a landlords Association needs to be made aware of is it something that the IET need to set a new set of standards around?
Not this one mate. The winners always get picked at random. We have loads of great stuff lined up though mate I am sure you’ll get a winner soon. Thanks for always showing support mate
With regards to EICRs. Have a look at the IET web site/forum. Look up Should EICR (Electrical Instalation Condition Report) be stored nationally or locally in a digital format in a similar way to an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate)?
