My brother uses donkeys and Maremma dogs and STILL loses about $6,000 worth of stock per year to BOTH wild dogs and unrestrained domestic dogs. He says the prime reason is an enclave of low income housing that “feeds” replacement dogs into the countryside. A few years back, a pack of dogs ran his stud stock into a fence and so injured them he had to put half of them down and the vet bills of those that survived was in the thousands.

They're literally everywhere, no matter how many times I remove them they just come back, the main issue is that they stink. So annoying

So it takes 2 kilos of this product to kill a hog. That must mean that there's only a tiny dose of it in each of those little balls of bait right? Why? It seems like 2 kilos is lethal but 1 kilo would be very slow death and .25 kilos would be really rough week. Very curious about this. I've always been anti poison but I'm open minded here.
@thetriumphsprint
@thetriumphsprint Год назад
No. A dog would have to eat about 2kg to harm it. Pigs eat a lot less. The sodium nitrate inhibits their ability to oxygenate blood. They are dead quickly. Do a web search for the product. They have a lot of info. 👍
@hoghuntusa6711
@hoghuntusa6711 Год назад
@Patrick Ernst that doesn't make sense. If it takes 2kg to kill a 50-lb dog, then it'd take much more to kill a 150lb hog. But it's not a light switch either. If it takes 2kg to kill a dog, and the dog only eats 1kg, then the dog isn't walking away unscathed. It's going to either die more slowly, be sick for a week, or have some permanent issues. So apply that logic to a sounder. Those who eat a lot die quickly, others that eat less die slowly, those that don't die survive and learn! And dang people are complaining about an FMJ mag dump being unethical - this just seems brutal!

I have a 5 month old maremma & she is taking her cues from my 10 year old labradoodle. Shylo is playing ball, tug o war, chases, she gets on well with the cat & children she watches me like a hawk & is great on the lead. I found it difficult to find the right info on feeding her. ATM as a pup, she is fed 2 cups of dry puppy feed with 1 cup of meat & 1 cup of mixed vegetables, rice & pasta. Another thing I have found controlling her barking instinct easy.

Would be nice if some of that money we pay for the flood mitigation scheme as part of our rates was used to maintain the wallace creek floodgates so that they actually sealed properly, instead of relying upon local landholders to perform that maintenance at the start of an actual flood for free.

Are you telling us that land management doesn’t manage these floodgates I would like to know what height does the river have to be below for Wallis Creek to actually work

Still baiting with 1080? What happens when a bait is picked up and dropped by a crow inside the exclusion fence. Dropped 1080 baits are the main cause of guardian and domestic dog deaths after eating a bait.

@@jonglewongle3438 Actually haven't had lamb more than three or four times since I left the property 24 years ago and butchered my own crossies. No flavour compared to old man salt bush lamb. Basically all the poor buggas ate as well as mallee bush, but mate they had some flavour.

all for ornamental and wind instruments. Humans screwed up the planet badly with bringing over invasive species. When he said apply glyopshate 2-3 times?! That's just sickening.
