Fall in love with the REAR END first !!!!!! / NO FROG LEGS THEN FALL IN LOVE WITH THE FRONT END ..... BAD BREEDERS HAVE TO MOVE ALL THEIR PUPPIES / DO NOT GET A DOG WITH SHAKIE REAR LEGS !!!!!!! YOU'LL BE SORRY .....
Best dog breed there is. I'm glad someone took the time to publish these precautions. I've owned 5 GSDs in my life and wish I'd had a lot more. They are quite simply... wonderful companions and best friends...

In my experience most GSD are quite simple to learn how to interact with children. More difficult to train the children. Remember 36 years ago when our female GSD peacefully slept in her kitchen bed. Daughter hadn't learnt how to walk, crawling to the GSD. With both her teeth bite the poor dog in the ear. The dog gentle bit her in the nose. Took some time comforting the assaulted dog. Lesson learnt, daughter has never bitten a dog after that.
My GSD was trained for search and rescue. He doesn't listen the first time he's told an order, so he got an early retirement. He's the best dog, my best friend, my baby.
How to introduce German shepherd to small children? Turn off your car, remove land mines, dispose of the acid bath, and pay off your loans... I mean COMEON...
Some I've had loved swimming, others not too keen. When one of them saw two girls in a row boat out in a lake he decided that they had to be rescued. He swam out to the boat, took a firm bite in one oar and tugged the boat safely to the shore. Another one decided to take a swim, still carrying her newly killed badger. Somehow dropped the badger which sank. She swam around several minutes searching.
Never used a GSD as a hunting dog. Though they sure can kill animals. Had a big friendly family one. Seen her kill a wild mink in a fraction of a second. A badger took a second. Also some hares. Never troubled our cats. Neighbours cats was chased up in trees. Foreign cats was never seen again.
Other dogs, a GS wont admit be second best to the tutor. They will sheperd/herd other dogs as long as they accept to be submissive. If they are put in a subordinate rolle, there will be a crisis. It will be very dificult for them to overcome this deception with the tutor, yet not impossible. They demand to be the number 1.
GSDs have been so popular for so long that the quality of the breed in general is very poor, both in terms of health and mental stability. There are certainly exceptions that are available to those who are willing to study the breed, the different types within the breed and identify a seriously qualified breeder who produces what the buyer wants. If you do this, you are quite likely to get an excellent dog. if you can overlook the shedding...
GSD’s are like any other breed, they behave as they’ve been conditioned. My wife and I have had GSD’s continuously for the past 25 years and they’ve lived with all sorts of other breeds and cats also. One of our shepherds bff was a 20lb cat; they loved playing together. I agree with this video; every dog is an individual and needs to be evaluated on their own. All of our shepherds have been well socialized and we’ve never had any problems with other pets. Great video, thanks for posting!
Our German Shedder ate our almost new Pit Group! Over $1000 down the drain! And then tore up a 450 sq ft Sunroom. All this when he was about 7 months old when we got him. He's a good boy now tho. Doesn't tear up anything anymore (3 Yrs old) and oh yeah, about 120 pounds of fur and teeth!
