If there was or is King of Afro beats has to be Fela Kute. in south Africa he is a legend Hugh Masikela thanks i know Fela coz of his cover to Lady.. still listening in 2024.
Just learned that 'Pidgin english' was and IS a dialect of English. A language that business negotiations among African traders during slave trade created(Cameroun, Ghana, Nigeria). I always thought that Fela made it his own and it was dead. It seems there was very much a defiant tone in the Pidgin english to sidestep colonial interests. A subterfuge of sorts. I talk while welcoming any correction abt this story.

Great guitarist, this goes without saying, but that methamphetamine was a motherfucker even back then. They called it “crank”, but one only has to look at Roy’s “cash register jaw” to know they were one and the same.
A man who came before his time. He saw tomorrow, we did not appreciate him when he came as touch bearer. The Christ of Music, philosopher of a kind. Fela Kuti you defeated death and you lives forever❤❤❤❤

Remember explaining this idea years ago when talking about "caustic art", ie using only the reflections. If you go iridescent, it's crow feathers. Simply printing gloss levels in patterns and controllable thicknesses, you realise that "reflective" and "view angle" can do interesting things, but when you add "feedbacK", then it becomes a highly explorable space. If you play with cromalin/ light sensiive glue / no complex, you could use egg, and it'd be a lo cheaper than the "dupont brand" stuff that smells like... cancer.
