Thank you for making such a great community in the LARP world/Community. When I first stumbled upon LARP, I didn't know what it was or even heard of it until I started watching your videos when you were known as the LARP Girl (such nostalgia), female empowerment in the LARP world as well as @MoMoOBrien and @Azrai 's videos, then I fell in love with the whole LARP and immersive experiences, made me be who I am today-even made my own youtube channel since the 3 of you inspired me. I now make videos about my local Pirate Fest (Love my Pirate Fest crew/family), Ren Faire/Fests, immersive experiences, and soon LARPs. Everyone in this video is amazing. And thank you for all the hard work you've part into this and done as well as everyone who's been nominated/in the video and also won. Thank you to everyone who has nominated me for the Most Impactful LARP Creator Under 5K. I want am really appreciative to be in this category and for everyone who has nominated me. I believe everyone is a winner here. Your dress looks so magical and amazing as well. ✨
Thanks for an interesting take. The maturing of LARP communities and practices is fascinating to watch. The point made about excluding people who are unsafe resonates with me enormously. As a LARP organiser my experience is that the whole nature of our community changed when we committed to a code of conduct, complaint management processes and a willingness to exclude people who couldn't embrace our values. From there we discovered all kinds of ways that LARP can be about more than dress ups and fights. In our game consent mechanics are still evolving and the suggestions shared here are great input.
Lots of work but just as much love. I’m so grateful that participants and creators contributed to the piece. Loved seeing friends faces during long edit days. ☺️
Nothing was filmed near the cape. A few friends sent in clips from where they lived and got creative with the locations. The film was mostly captured in Cambridge and a few pickup shots in Connecticut (tower scenes).
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I AM SO EXCITED TO WATCH THIS! Your content is always phenomenal, I cannot wait to cozy up with friends and watch this freaking *epic saga* length adventure!
I'm very happy to hear you talk about consent, the ok check in system and the traffic light system! Consent needs to be taught everywhere and is mandatory practice in my opinion in life and especially at larp. Really great video, Kaza!
What a fantastic and thoughtful video! I'm really glad to see this discussion happening. You mentioned emotional care personnel -- the LARP I attend regularly has a group of such personnel that wear a pin throughout the weekend (so long as they're in a good state to handle such responsibilities!) and also identify themselves at our game-on meeting. They're available to step off to the side and walk you through issues that might arise over the course of game. Additionally, they and our ombudsperson report not to the game director but to the board that oversees several local games and a conduct chair, in order to circumvent any potential issues of abuse of power. As a queer person who had this as their first LARP experience, it's ended up being a really amazing and safe space and a wonderful community very explicitly based on the ability to opt in to the things you want to engage in. Good community management has meant absolutely the world to me, and has resulted in a community of friends that's becoming more like family. :)
Hello! Thank you so much for bringing up emotional care personnel. I love that the space you play creates many pathways to identity them. I’m a big fan of having this role baked into a larp to be separate from the other organizers/storytellers that way it can be their main focus. 😊
Very well done video Kaza these tips & management tools will for sure help me and others who feel to unsure to say anything or the worry about ruining someone's or your/there own role playing experience. Also, amazing clips of the things you have done you can see you learned how to balance each character you play much love Kaza stay wild moon child ^_^b
It’s been a long road and each one of the clips in the intro taught me something about larp or myself. Definitely an insightful journey that I’m very grateful I get to share. Hoping this video helps anyone new to larping decide how they want to get involved. 🤞🏼😊
I love this intro! Also wowie I know you’ve been working on this a while already so unrelated, but the timing of this dropping after the Jenny Evermore video…man the contrast is sooo vivid lol
Was editing this threw the lunar esclipe and wanted to release it on 11/11 for good luck. Watched Jenny's video earlier this week and enjoyed how it explored so many famililar issues that I've experienced at larps. Big promises, smol deliverables, and usually some broken hearts. The more we get feedback from our communities and build with them in mind over our own interests, then we really get to experience larp magic! I went to Evermore park last month and my experience was pretty similar to Jenny's. I feel like I went in knowing what to expect and managed to have a good time. However, I'd credit the fun to being at the hands of my frieeeends and the community surrounding the park.
