This fits perfectly into the setting of Dolmenwood. Ancient defeat of vague frost lord. Outdated cat deity. Mushrooms. Tortles=Mosslings. Low magic. Strange weather and alien seasons. Fey queens and lords, some involving sleep. It works so well.
I just found the channel via this video, so this is literally the first of your videos I have ever seen. On that note, I am working on a few worlds myself. Two are intentionally ridiculous and high magic because it is a setting I have no intention of actually having anyone reasonably play in but is just there for my Mature story series I have running a site I found dedicated to that sort of thing, another I am trying to build up slowly because it is intended to both be a story that is read and an introduction to a world for the readers to potentially play through at some point, and the last I am going to mention is be written as an actual campaign setting that I started writing up a few years ago, that setting is designed to be intentionally a bit different because I wanted to see what a setting with the kind of twist I had in mind could be like. I'm being intentionally vague on all my world settings for a few different reasons, but also to make sure no one else intentionally tries jumping into making everything with what I'm saying as a starting point or template before I share it all in a format I am comfortable with to a wide assortment of individuals.
@@fishiie4684 I'm more of a Locathah and Kuo-Toa guy. I like it, when the fish-people are more fish like. I would and have played actual fishes, who weren't even humanoid. But terrestrial corals are always a cool thing. Do you also have a special bloom event, where they reproduce in one night and it gets celebrated? I also like your dragonborn, especially those that are normally born. But could they also get the infection to become even more dragon like?
@@Norwyn It does sound cool, yet i should probably do some more research about corals in general. The dragonblight can be little scales or as much as actually becoming an dragonborn. ^•^
@@fishiie4684 I can recomment doing research on cnidarians in general. They are super fascinating! If you want an overview of cnidarian larvae and development, I recomment Kraus 2024 Cnidarian Larvae: True Planula, Other-Than-Planulae, and Planulae That Don't Look Like Planulae. Also it is really fun to mix biology with fantasy. In my feywild, the dial vertical migration of plankton doesn't stop at the water surface, with millions of organisms ascending into the night sky every day. Also, in my worlds, terrestrial corals are bioluminescent and their blooms are as well, creating something that looks like an aurora. For the dragonblight I wondered if someone, who is already naturally born as a dragonborn, could be infected and become even more draconic.
I'm really intrigued with how in depth your world is and all the art and maps you showed in the video! As someone who is very interesting in worldbuilding, could I ask what you use to make your maps? I've used a few different map making tools online but none them have the style I'm going for, nor do they feel very versatile.
I love learning about other people worlds, it scratches a very specific part of my brain. I kinda developed the habit of prowling around campaign wikis just to see what they have cooking up lol.
Has Fishiie ever played Aquaria by Bit Blot? Or do they play games other then D&D and board games. Their profile pic as a mermaid with fins made me subscribe.
Tortle's can already live a long time. 50 years is just their average which doesn't say a lot about full lifespan in reptiles. Lizardfolk also hunt them apparently so that for sure doesn't help.
The dark age reminds me of pathfinder age darkness. My idea for your world would be the deepkin, humanoid fishpeople who are split between those who worship the sea god and those who fled during the darkness to the deep sea to stay warm near the volcanoes and started worshiping the god of the deep. The sea on your world is big, so a underwater world would make sense.
I love that you turned chat into a cannonical deity. You should convince one of your players to play a wild magic sorceror as a devotee of The Audience. Instead of rolling on the wild magic table, twitch chat gets to vote on what happens
Cecillia Items: Suggested revamps. As far as I can see, Cecillia's creations are more focused on clothing for social events, perhaps the odd jewelry on occasion. Or perhaps they are meant for the adventurer who wants to be stylish while spelunking down monster-filled pits. Favored Enchantments: (These enchantments are essentially her trademark. It's not a true Cecillia without them!) 1. Gleaming: This enchantment was taken from Xanathhar's Guide to Everything common magic item, Armor of Gleaming (page 136), where the armor (or in this case, clothing) never gets dirty. 2. Mending: This enchantment was also taken from XGtE, Clothes of Mending (page 137.) These Clothes will mend themselves daily to counteract any minor damages. any major damages of the outfit can't be repaired this way. Frostflake Dress (attunement): While wearing this dress, flakes of harmless snow falls from this dress, after a minute, the flakes disappear. Additionally, you can cast protection from Energy (cold) on yourself once per day. Frostmaidens (attunement): While wearing these boots, your footsteps leave icy prints that disappear in a minute. These prints are not hazardous. Additionally, once per day, you can as an action, freeze over the floor in a 30 ft. square centered on yourself, becoming difficult terrain for a minute. When the icy surface appears, each creature standing in its area must succeed on a DC: 15 Dexterity saving throw or fall prone. A creature that enters the area or ends its turn there must also succeed on a DC: 15 Dexterity saving throw or fall prone. (This is just an icy Grease spell with a wider radius and a range of self.) When attuned to both: You can move across icy surfaces without needing to make an ability check. Additionally, difficult terrain composed of ice or snow doesn't cost it extra movement. I believe this would be appropriate for their given names. Additionally, I've made my own magic item for this set, as a gift. Frostheart (attunement): This choker is a complimentary item for Frostflake and Frostmaidens, enhancing their effects each once per day. While wearing this choker and the boots, you can cast Water Walk, leaving behind an icy trail on the water. While wearing this choker and the dress, you can cast Snilloc's Snowball Swarm at third-level, DC save of 15.
I love the gleaming and Mending suggestion more, it indeed sounds like something they'd all have! The Frostmaidens change seems cool to! thank you so much :)
I like how the Skull-sign Cloud Gnomes actually have a healing cloud, that's pretty cute and not what I was expecting. Their sign-compatability chart must be great
I understand that the Candleheads were inspired by the Warforged and inherited the lack of sleep/eating etc from them but why did you choose to also make them not need to breath? I would have thought the fact that they have a flame on their heads that needs to keep burning would be a good reason to need "breath", so if deprived of air, the fire can't burn and they become unconscious/on standby
