So I had to have it, that passenger carriage is magnificent. One bricklink visit later- 6 stores, 3 US, 2 Far east. Total £285, plus shipping £140 = £425! = (Sad Noises) I simply cannot pay a Rivendell, she would end me if she found I spent a Rivendell on a train with one carriage, even if it is stunning
The De Theming of this hotel is unbearable. Still nice, but doesn't feature that "D"isney "D"Ifference that Eisner challenged imagineers with during this era.
I am a European citizen who went to college during the late 1990s early 2000s in Central Florida. I worked at the Swan & Dolphin for a few months. To me, the grandiosity of the resorts always felt faked and rushed. Seeing that the statues were actually made of wood and fiberglass, mean my suspicions were right. This is a structure built to satisfy market needs, in which , the cost has to be repaid in full within the first decade after construction Grandiosity is a statue paid for by a monarch, a noble or an aristocrat, to be carved in stone or marble at a huge loss, but with the intention of it lasting hundreds of years
Oh do I want that 8wide Santa Fe train, not going to be cheap though so it looks like sacrifices need to be made so i can afford it...anyone interested in buying an 8 year old kid, I will throw in the mother for half price to sweeten the deal? They are costing me a fortune, and you should have seen her face when I came home with another Orient Express, she is really cramping my train buying fun.
I’m still amazed that people thought the 2023 Hogwarts Express was better than the 2018 when it lacks features that its predecessor had. I contemplated buying it for the station, but I’d end up combining the two coaches into one and modifying the locomotive to fit my style of Lego locomotives (plus fixing the omission of the wheel splashers and two tone whistles).
I know it looks like it says "Reading" but it is pronounced "RED ING, I have no idea why they spell it Read but pronounce it Red, it probably has something to do with them being stupid southerners who cannot spell...who knows?
Here we go Again! Another episode of, "Fantastic Trains that Lego will never make because they hate me and like seeing me cry". Then you think, "You cannot hurt me more Lego! I am immune to your attacks! I will just buy the parts and build it to spite you Lego...(15 Minutes on Bricklink Later)...OOOOOhhh, £1900???...DOHHHH!!!!" Turns out they can still hurt you, just indirectly. Great vid!...Have fun building.
NIce MOC/MOD, but the "Orient Express" is far from an "ideal" train set. It hardly includes any valuable train parts, no couplers, no bogie plates, no metal axles, ugly driving rods, ... the locomotive is not continental European in style at all - which is confirmed here in a strange way. And it is just a marketing product of the Accor hotel corporation, the design has nothing to do with actual historic Orient Express trains. If you use the logo, you actually pay yourself dearly for making advertisements for a global corporation. Something usually you should get paid for.
I think this is a set with a confused identity. It fails as a display piece due to the lackluster locomotive. It fails as a functional train, in spite of a tender that will hold a battery box and L-Gauge compatibility. Hopefully Lego realizes they turned out a turd, and can learn from it.
I found out about that hack with my DX Geats Driver 5 months ago. As I noticed the Lego Mario also use pin sliders similar to that driver, I manage to avoid doing that to my Mario. Hopefully, I don't have to suffer from fixing those pins ever again 😢
Note the color scheme of the Dutch 1100 train: sand green. In particular the 1x8 plate is almost impossible to get, so 64 pieces will set you back about $600! Add two 9v motors for $100 and the price does go up quick. Always use the Bricklink average piece prices to know which are very expensive pieces and therefore a clue on replacements.
To be fair, if you want german trains try: Bluebrixx, those models are great quality, I would compare this to real lego, only issues they can sometimes have is that the wheel axles are a little to short. Just replace those with real lego and u won't even be able to tell the train is not real lego. It has great building quality and also more bricks/more different colors than real lego
Thank you very much!:) I’m working on the new berkshire idea, stay tuned! I’m happy to hear you like my 4 in 1 idea! We really need more trains, especially steam trains in the bricktastic world of Lego! You did a great job with this video, keep up the good work! Greetings, Nova (formerly AnonymusMocDesigner)
Buying parts for trains on Bricklink just gets FRIGHTENINGLY EXPENSIVE, I have stopped doing it. There was a four carriage MOC for British Rail Mark 1 passenger carriages that I REALLY wanted. So I did the Bricklink parts search and for 4 carriages and no engine, just 4 passenger carriages....£1960...That works out at $2570...OVER $600 per carriage. The thing was it was ALWAYS very expensive, not $600 per carriage expensive, but £150 per carriage was not unexpected. The prices was the reason I bought 2 Orient Express sets and considered it a BARGAIN, 2 Engines, 2 Tenders and 4 large fancy Carriages for the LOW LOW PRICE OF JUST $600? Bargain!!! Being Train mad and not being a millionaire is the reason I now go to BlueBrixx for parts and sets, you can get an engine and 4 carriages and still have change from £200 when if it was Lego it would be £1200 easily, and there is dozens to choose from in 6wide, 7wide and 8wide. Yes its not Lego pieces, but they are still very good and you cant tell the difference. So while Lego has no train theme my business will go to BlueBrixx.
You do not know how good it feels to realise that it is not just me that starts building a train design but has problems finishing the train design through a lack of the correct parts. I have a carriages on the side right now that have been waiting for the roof finishing, those curved slopes are not cheap and I need hundreds of them...but ONE DAY the Pickerbrick Wall shall provide, and then it shall be completed.
You could also get your bricks from third parties such as bluebrixx (or even from china). I know that as a LEGO-fan this can be 'hard', but it takes away a lot of the frustration. Building trains and having a (small) layout/diorama is what makes it fun, not saving up for some plastic parts that are - let's be honest - overpriced.
Make sure you don't melt this and drink it! I unfortunately had quite a difficult week after microwaving the back carriage and eating it with some low fat meringue.
