I disagree with a particular statement here, the creator stated "the Europeans grouped the Tivs into clans, group and family heads etc." This is false. The constitution of the Tiv and the complex structure of family roots and clans is natural, peculiar and unique to Tiv and is particularly special and not created by Europeans.
I hold a different perspective, The African Elephant interprets his statement as referring to the time before the arrival of Europeans, in line with the historical facts I've researched about Tiv history. I'd advise you to do more research.
The landing part of the video was of an A330 and not the B737 you boarded out of Abuja. However, it would have been nice for you to have caught a bit of the interior of the economy cabin.
Tiv idegine are not only found in benue state, you saying the language spoken in Other state is not clearly stated, I expected you to said, Tiv are idegine of Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa, plateau and Cameron. It's not condemnation but just for correction.
A poor presentation. The relationship between the Fulani and Tiv dates back at least 4 centuries, long before they came to the Benue valley. It was Uthman Danfodio who strained the relationship between the two people when he attacked the Tiv with his jihad. He was eventual killed, and his death lead to the Fulanis holding a vendetta against the Tiv. Since then mutual suspicion always remains in the background of an otherwise cordial relationship. I was also taught that the Fulanis gave the Tiv cattle as gifts, expecting them to rear and multiply them. But they ate them all. When the Fulanis asked the Tiv what happened to their cows they answered that they are them. Hence the name Munchi. It was not about getting women pregnant.
@@animalsdigs8621 You just disagree without addressing any of the points I made? What point exactly do you disagree with? Or is it just for the sake of disagreeing?😒
@@el-sig2249 It was needless for you to call this a poor presentation, you can however highlight your views with more polite words. That is just my humble opinion anyway!.
Thank you so much for this video! I only learned of the Tiv tribe, a few minutes ago. I saw a video of the Cat Dance! I’m going to keep learning everyday of my life. There are so many African tribes to learn about. Most of my African dna, is from Nigeria. One day, I hope to discover what were some of the tribes, my ancestors belonged to. Regardless, I really appreciate learning about all of them.
Uyor , did not means , you have cooked, is a word with different meanings, Uyor means, an appreciation and thanks for a gift. Not necessarily food, then Uyor attached with u ngu yorunum, means are u cooking, Any gift presented to you, but mostly associated to food you will thanks the person by saying Uyor, Uyor kirkighir, or msughur kighirkighir. Thanks your research is quite good, but most times speak to people through verbal interviews aspect of research to understand more.
Missionaries came just in 1907. This is an aspect I will still research more, people coming to structure you, and direct you on how to operate your traditional activities, meaning you don't know what you are doing, is them that know best how to direct you, God created every tribe with a culture. And we must go back to it before we are all destroyed and have no source of tradition and culture. Our rich culture that is called here by even the researcher is dying slowly and wiping away. Which is unacceptable
There are tiv muslems but few. Please calm yourself ,Islam is a peace loving religion. Your Tribe are one of the finest and peace loving people in Northern Nigeria , despite that tivs are predominantly Christians it is hard to find them attacking innocent Muslims unlike Birom , Atyab and some ther northern minority tribes.
