The UN should mandate and strongly enforce an international law that makes all nets without exception that is used for fishing equipped with GPS tracking devices that will make lost nets identifiable and quickly findable if lost by the owners and or users of these nets. Any and all boats using non GPS nets will be seized by any and all countries militaries under mandate of the UN. Let's solve this problem once and for all.
Instead of nations putting billions of dollars on climate change (which is an on going process for millions years, and is inevitable), why not put these billions of money to clean up our oceans, instead of non profit organizations begging for donations so they can clean up our environment. That way we can actually protect our planet and its inhabitants for future generations.
These industrial fishing ships and whaling boats should be fuckin torpedoed and their crews left to rot at sea.!!! There u like that one.Respect our oceans.

Entanglement is a heart-breaking threat to large cetaceans. Some are lucky to escape with scars. The intelligence of the Humpback Whale to recognize and allow assistance rewarded the rescuer's commitment despite great risk of bodily injury due to the close proximity to its powerful flukes.
Not to be a party pooper, but that whale will loose its fluke. If you could remove the embedded net, it would probably just lose half of it, but by leaving all the net embedded in the whale's flesh on both sides of the fluke, it's gonna keep up the infection that then will be followed by necrosis and loss of fluke. It's sad, but this whale is far from saved. Though what you did was probably all that could be done.
When I see them being harmed and tangled up in nets something inside me dies, it hurts that much. I can go from sadness to hate in the blink of a eye. To harm any living being is just plain wrong.

What a rubbish job they did, took the dragging wait off but left enough to cut off it's tail fin. Drift nets are illegal, maybe stiffer penalties are needed, of course no need now as the human population is being culled to 500 million from 7.5 billion courtesy of Mr Gates.
