This version appears to be at normal speed rather than the sped-up-then-slowed-down official cut. I wonder if Spike had them do a few rehearsal takes early on in the shoot at normal speed and that's where this version comes from?
The end of an era. This was Weezer’s last show before going on hiatus and also their last show with Matt Sharp on bass before he left a year later. This was also That Dog’s last show before they spilt up.
I can't imagine what weezer with Mikey would've been. Like if he didn't have to leave. He definitely brought a different feel to the group and he is a really awesome bassist. Scott does good don't get me wrong but it's more a personality thing
This song was written years before their deaths. JME"s song was written in response to their deaths which is why it is a much better eulogy to the sisters whereas Weezer's song was written as as shoutout to bestfriends
Depressing describes this performance. Rivers was best friends with Mykel and Carli Allen. Them dying in a crash on the way to a show shows their devotion to the band, which eventually ended in a tragedy. Rivers Cuomo… we remember this…
I love how river is trying to get them all to shut the fuck up with his harmonica when there’s screaming requests him. he’s like stfu i’m playing a song i wrote for my two best friends
I ordered one of those green Weezer hats from Mykel & Carli. They ran the fan club back in the day. They died in a car accident on the way to a weezer show in Salt Lake I believe. Still have that hat somewhere - I also ordered that raddest black long sleeve shirt with a red& yellow weezer W that striped across the front. Wish I still had that one cause I’ve never seen another one since & I bought it right after Pinkerton came out in 96. On the Pinkerton CD was an address you could send a SASE for a hand written lyric booklet that was really awesome and they also sent with it a tiny postcard sized black & white advertisement with different merchandise you could order by snail mail. Different times. Better times. Best Weezer
I can't even imagine what those parents were going through. Not only is losing one kid bad enough, but three at one time... I don't think I could go on after that.
I saw them do this song live several months before the album came out. I remember thinking it was the best song of the concert, and it's still my favorite song by them...
