Wow, great clear! When Devil's Recitation started with the red lasers aiming off to the side, I was thinking "Oh, there's loads of room to dodge, it's going to be easy", then I remembered how fast the blue bullets are!
Sooo amazing, this deserves much more than 3.5k views... I wonder if there's anyway to advertise perfect runs of an extremely hard obscure game like this... I will think on it and try to get back on a more recent video.
Seeing the length of the video I expected that this was gonna be several character runthroughs, but no, this is realizing that Sanae's just bad, + missing information on one of the most integral defensive mechanics that you just have to find out lol
I think Tsukasa has that particular shottype because she's a pipe fox, a mythical creature who was said to be containable within a vial/pipe for powers.
Yeah ngl I agree that the first 3 stages always using the same 2 preset themes is a bit of a shame. As much as I love the theme that plays during the first 2 stages, I would rather hear each character's own unique themes. I think you figured it out already but basically there is a new barrier system that wasn't in the demo that lets you take a hit for free. And you can recharge it by using a level 3 or level 4 charge. Also sending a level 3 or level 4 charge when you have the barrier up will very significantly reduce the time before the bosses next attack (you need to beat a certain amount of their attacks to beat the boss). In my experience sending a level 4 with a barrier up almost always resulted in the boss instantly sending their own attack, and I think the few rare cases where it didn't work for me was when my boss was already on the opponent's screen. So while this game sadly has 0 scoring maybe it will get a speedrun scene lesanae. Overall I'm really enjoying the game so far. The difficulty is a bit extreme even on Normal but when not playing any of the really bad shots it has been a blast.
I've been informed that Sanae has a particularly tough time in this game, even for non-Reimu characters. I feel like that may have skewed my impressions of this game's overall difficulty, especially because I went from Reimu (who's disproportionately broken) to Sanae. So take some of my "in the moment" remarks with a grain of salt... I was also told that you can regain your shield by using level 3-4 charges, which would allow you to have multiple free hits on each life. ....Just that knowledge in and of itself is a huge game changer.
...Okay nevermind, disregard all of my comments on this game "not having any defensive options". The regaining your shield with lv 3 charge mechanic is absolutely busted. Even managed to get a Marisa LNB with that. I guess a lot of this video commentary is just blind run nonsense :P
(Warning! Spoilers past read more) Wiat wait eiat eiat! You telling me the full thing is out?! I am so excited!!!! Personally loved Touhou 9 because of looking into how it functions is so cool and watching pro player tornament, I’m just excited for a more polished and updated game. Edit: SUIKA!!! And man I love her shot type 10:16 classic pofv 10:57 did suika just detonate all spirits on her side? 12:23 who in black mage queen of the underwater jelly fish are you supposed to be? 18:03 makes me think of a demon as first impressions. Also this battle song needs a PREIST 18:20 what in god name that defensive shot?!
I was surprised that Suika had such a nice artwork as well haha. A lot taller than I expected too. It *is* a shame that their themes don't play in story mode, but oh well. (or I assume) I didn't notice any audio problems from the charging of headphones or whatever, so it should be fine Stage 5 boss does look like a fangame design lol...
