Thank you very much for uploading the video! I opened the glove box after seeing this and it's the same reason - the key wore out cannot flat all the teeth to turn… at least the box is open to use~ thank you again
I just turn my key slightly to the right without locking it the latch dropped back into place turn it back to the unlock position then it open right up :-)
First couple minutes was just a brief explanation and I was sitting in the car. Fast forward to about 2 1/2 minutes and it’s in the shop. But in the first part, I used a pick to go in the little crack and pop the lever. There’s no way to actually show that in the car because you are doing it by feel. Hope this helps.
Thanks so much! Locked my phone and wallet in the glove box and couldn’t get it unlocked. Followed your video and was able to not damage the box and get my stuff out! Now to work on fixing the lock itself. 👍🏼
Because a new key would have the same exact, worn down, teeth as the original key, so you’d have the same problem. I had to grind down the tumbler to match the key that was over 10 years old.
Thanks for video ,helped me with my glove box that was locked for along time and I didn't know how to open it,good information you gave.I told some one else to watch video that had same problem as mine.
Bob & Mic Taylor as I thought I said in video, I had already fixed it and just wanted to share what I did to get it apart. There are 2 screws on inside of glove box to remove latch, then it’s just the clips that hold the lock in the latch. I did not want to take it completely back apart again on fear of breaking the clips. Sorry it wasn’t helpful to you.
Bob & Mic Taylor also, if you are having trouble with a glove box, let me know. Maybe I can offer some advice. When I started with my glove box, nothing would open it.
