Wow. I knew Harbison had a solo violin piece but had never heard this duo sonata. Luv the obsessive rhythm in beginning and the block like material which follows. This violinist knew how to mind the meaning behind these notes. Perfect intonation and obvious bow smarts make her communicative!
Lovely lyrical Dvorak of quiet ecstasies, well loved and beautifully performed. One can well understand Brahms' response to Dvorak's seemingly spontaneous chamber music. A delight once the video had been removed from my screen. It is a pity the camera wasn't supervised so as to exclude the awful bored member of the audience who wasn't even listening but performing his own disruptive irritating mundane contributions. Can he be executed by cropping?
Yah, the restless leg syndrome dude was pretty annoying. On the flip side, I just played this lovely quartet last night (I was the cellist), and I'm still high on it. Not an angry moment in this whole beautiful piece.
22:41 first violin. absurd beginning of a resolution unfolding, leading to triumphant finale. pure genius. no mater how many times i hear these quartets there is always something new to be admired. and the performance is excellent.
