I was a 17yr old metalhead in 1989. Taking shit from everyone, yet I ended up being a corporate executive in Manhattan for 25 years. Lol. Little did we know, well some of us knew, that it would be rap and hip hop that would destroy American culture and polute our kids into thinking they are black. Now look at us in 2024.
They played at a convention in Amarillo Tx a few months before this. Carl Perkins played at the same show. I got to lean on the stage. It was great. They gave away an autographed guitar and later played dominos with fans in the Hilton hotel lobby.
I've seen the Thunderbirds numerous times mostly in a small club maybe 100 people and Jimmie stood next to me and jammed while the coolest lead singer ever did his thing
Jimmie Vaughan, the most overrated guitar player. I cringe watching him. Talk about riding on the coat tails of your brother. It's like he's watching an instructional video and trying to mimic. He is a good rhythm guy but lead, no way.
How painful it must be to go on Arsenio Hall as a guest, to tolerate him saying something like “you’ve always looked sharp though, didn’t you” to someone as brilliant as van gough.
Same line up at the Cotton Boul in 80 I think. Halloween day and the next day. The Thunderbirds were good enough to open or close. Seeing twice was worth it.
Jimmie Lee Vaughan is one of the greatest guitar players in music history! He's smooth, funky, soulful, rockin', jazzy, and can play the blues with the best of them! I highly recommend his album called Do You Get The Blues? It's one of my favorites in my blues library.
