I also dragged my feet … due to ridicule. I really enjoyed The Illuminae Files but couldn’t get into The Nevernight Chronicle, The Aurora Cycle series or LIFEL1K3 … not saying any of those are bad, I just couldn’t get myself to read them or past a chapter or two. I eventually read EotV a year and a half ago … i was pleasantly surprised …. it also came in a full Illumicrate box … so I didn’t have to go looking for it lol Huh I haven’t reviewed it …. Maybe I’ll immersion read the two that are out back to back …. I agree … it’s a fun book and all the book shaming edge lord nonsense is a bit sad. I’m just not mainstream …. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/3
Spread the gospel!!! Contrary to you, I went into this book with insanely high expectations considering that Nevernight is one of my all-time faves, and somehow Kristoff still managed to blow me completely away. This book really is a mishmash of so many amazing stories, and yet it is compeletely its own unique thing. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on book 2, that is more focused on world/lore expansion and the plot doesn't progress too much, but the vibes are soooo immaculate!!
Glad you liked it. I loved this book and the sequel, including the swearing 😅. Managed to bag an Illumicrate special edition of both books and they are beautiful. Will add the Blood Song to my TBR, thanks for the rec.
Damien Lynch is a fantastic narrator, and I also loved Empire of the Vampire! So glad that you also enjoyed it :). We both need to read Empire of the Damned now!
Man, this probably bumped way up my TBR for the end of the year or next year. Basically Castlevania meets Blade in an epic fantasy world. Gaaaaaah, I can’t wait!!
Glad you liked it but a little surprised as you don't seem to like the swearing or sex in your books? Just finished the sequel and thought it was very good as well. Maybe not quite as good as the original? Now we play the waiting game. Not sure he can wrap it up in just one more book. We will see. I think I will try his Nevernight Trilogy? Be well, stay safe!
Glad you liked it. At release it seemed like the cool thing to do on RU-vid was to crap on it. However it felt like something written specifically for me. Absolutely one of my favorite ongoing series right now.
it’s so bizarre to me when people are snobby about spec fiction, when like, the first ever book/story (epic of Gilgamesh) is fantasy, all the world’s myths and legends are.. fantasy, and history is filled with people who sit round and tell… you betcha, fantastical stories 🤯 human kind wouldn’t be what it was today without the power of speculative fiction
