How long does it take the shell to crack in boiling water? I've seen others use the filing method to crack through the shell before soaking them for 4 or 5 days to start the germination, but this sounds easier if it doesn't harm the seed inside.
The seed is not harmed because the shell is cracked just enough to allow water to penetrate. Remove it from the water once this occurs. There are many ways to use time a seed that seems harmful but are not including sanding seeds with abrasive paper.

I have something that looks like the creeping weed. It actually went in between the house exterior/interior and came inside the house my means of the window sill. I dont know how to remove it, any ideas? thanks

I received anamaryllis two years ago which was glued to a wood slice. After the flowers were gone I thought I would just throw it away. My son suggested cutting it from the wood and planting it. I did cut it from wood and removed as much as possible of the glue. The leaves have grown huge. No flowers yet but have seen a few things on RU-vid to try to see if I can get flowers.

Space flower bundles for good air circulation and faster drying. 3. Don't put into direct sunlight. It will bleach the flower color. 4. When flowers are dry, spray with hairspray to preserve them.
