Do me a favor and maybe your self possibly. Look up that white mark jacobs watch you pulled out of the bag. It might be worth more than you thought. Cheers. 😊
That pulsar is beautiful. I like it with that leather and think it looks great with that band you have on it. But I know thats part of the fun of it all is to change it out and see different looks on watches. Cheers. 😊
I like Pulsar. My brother had one for years and it worked flawlessly all through his career. If I am not mistaken I believe he still has it somewhere. Believe it or not, a well known watch collector bought that from me.
I am starting to enjoy watching your videos. Infact I hope you keep it up because I am a person that enjoys tinkering with watches taking them apart puting different hands on them and what-not. I really was surprised when you pulled out that Nixon watch out of the bunch. Awesome score and is worth more than the whole rest of the bag. I bet all you need to do is put a batt in it and it will start running. Nixon watches are actually decent made watches, miyota movements, stainless steel cases. They last a long time. Take care. Cheers. 😊
Hello, mixing up watches to make new ones is my favorite pastime. That Nixon was cleaned and out my door to a new home before I could even list it for sale. Nixon does make decent watches and I especially like their designs. Have fun and enjoy your watchmaking.-Mark
The watch you were thinking about gifting a lady friend. I personally don't think the watch has ever been worn, with the clean applied protective sticky backing you removed. The band is passable but would look better with a lighter colored tan or brown leather. But yes gift it to her and say just what you said to us, you remembered she wheres tiger type print and thought she might like it. Cheers. 😊
Those Continentals are pretty cool actually, The brand is swiss and they like making in house movements, although this could be sporting an ETA. Probably too late, but you might want to pop that battery out, since that Retana battery is likely what was installed from the factory. I got a Continental in a junk box for $4 with a 316L steel case and solid 18K bezel! Check the materials on that one, might be the treasure here.
Unfortunately no. The Casio G-shock kind of cornered the market on rugged sport pieces. For those looking for a detailed health diagnosis during exercise, the smart watch covers that niche market. I personally love G-shock and never looked into Ironman, but then again I am as healthy as a cadaver. 😂
Interesting, I didn't know that. If I am not mistaken I believe Fossil has the contract to make Roots watches. I know they make the Armani watches both Emporio and Exchange. I wonder if they just didn't sell in the UK market. Are there Tommy Hilfiger watches?
I love the analogue digital watch. The early miyota 4800 movements used part of a 2035 quartz movement, which is one of the most reliable movements you can still buy. The digital part was the part that failed. Later movments T2x0 had its own quartz section that fails more than the digital. If only they could have kept the 2035 analogue part with the newer digital section.
Yes, copper is used a lot. I did a piece a couple of years ago where I stripped the plating off and exposed the copper. I then let the copper age, (patina) to give it an aged look then assembled the watch. It turned out really nice and the client was blown away with the results. BTW, it was a cheap watch, but had a really cool looking dial with breget hands.
Gloves are a good idea, I have had some particularly filthy ladies watches probably because they use more products on their skin. That said the Lanco I wear every day was filthy, you could have done a dna test from it.
OMG, right? I got a G-shock from a bag a while back and there was enough dead skin to turn one's stomach. Lanco, I don't think I have heard of that brand. Is it vintage?
@@steadyjumps The name is owned by the Swatch group but they are made under licence in South Africa. I would say it's probably late 80s early 90s, earlier ones were swiss and really nice.
Japanese movements are usually good quality even for the affordable ones. I believe they have strict quality control in virtually everything they produce. Swiss watch making in my opinion, holds to quality standards above a certain price point, but the more affordable watch manufacturers, rest on the words "Swiss made". Thanks for your comment!🙂
My brother isn't really into watches, but he had this Lorus dress watch that he protected like a Rolex Daytona. It was a beautiful time piece made from stainless steel with a black patterned dial and date complication. Thanks for your comment! 😁
Damn that's beautiful would also look great in gold on a woman probably. My gf wants me to buy her a gold looking watch lmao. Was thinking about a PRX but thats a little to much atm. Anyone got a suggestion? Maybe a casio? Lets say max 100-200 euro/dollar.
Hello my friend, I actually did both. I left the bezel gold plated and did a case polish on the lower half to remove the pitting. Check out the last video of the finished product or come over and I will show you in person.
Thank-you for your suggestion. I ended up doing a case polish to clean up the pitted areas, but left the bezel gold. Now it has a two tone effect and looks pretty good.
Thank-you. I usually don't change the original intention of the case finish, but as I stated before, the case was too pitted to leave alone. It does look stunning 😍
Almost, but not quite! The movement was a surprise since they are usually a dull finish and not so clean.....almost polished! I honestly believe this watch was serviced recently. Oddly with very little lubrication.....it was definitely dry!
I do gotta say that, despite the cheap movement inside, it is still quite a beautiful piece. That dial and bezel combo is actually incredibly pretty to me, though I really do wish it were a higher quality watch.
It is a beautiful watch and yes I agree. The movement, although amazing in good shape has a life span if used constantly. As well, in my experience the BPG 866 is a problematic movement that requires lots of maintenance as it gets older. Nice watch though especially on the brown strap.
That Olivia watch is not really worth a whole lot. Any time I see that case back with "Diamond Tooled" I know it's gonna be a cheaply made, most likely gold tone aluminum cased watch with a BFG or similar 1 jewel movement inside. That Timex is quite a find, though! You never see them with that kind of look anymore
I believe you are right. When I was in my shop all I could hear was it ticking.....quite loud I might add. You know your movements and that is what I am expecting as well. Over the years I noticed the case backs with "Diamond Tooled" stamped in them are usually cheaper watches as well. Excellent observation!!!👍
Congrats on 500 subscribers! Fantastic bag of watches this time, there were some really good ones in there! Especially love the Timex, I'm a sucker for vintage Timexes that were meant to be 'disposed of', but keep on ticking even years and years after their supposed 'Best Before' date. Love the vids, I greatly enjoy watching your watch bag finds.
Those definitely were good finds and the Timex is in better shape than I originally thought. I started a light clean up on the case and it looks pretty good.
