I really like these two guys in their skit shows, and David Mitchell is my type of funny. But as much as I want to like this show and find the clips funny the more I watch the more depressing I get.
I would've actually liked to hear more of Mark's accurate Mercantile history walk. He's got an exhaustive list of flaws but his genuine regard for the accuracy of history (though he should know that Crick and Watson didn't discover the double helix on their own and it was Rosalind Franklin who actually did) here isn't one of them. Not everything needs to be 'made fun' especially when it's already interesting, like history, and the 'fun' in question is played out movie tropes. When the three 'probably sex tourists' do their little laugh at Mark's stock Sherlock joke I legit get angry, every time I see it. 'Really turning it around at the end' is apparently caving into pop misconceptions that make entertainment out of murder, and abandoning what he put genuine work into. 'Wee bit dusty bin' you mean like reality, Jan? I hate how incurious some people can be.
Damn bro have you thought that maybe the whole reality is a wee bit dusty bin is why people like fun and interesting history walks? You can be accurate and yknow give it a bit of pzazz. If I want a boring academic look at history I'll go on Jstor thanks.
