I don’t know anyone who can get through this song with no emotion. I haven’t yet and it is really hard to sing and really cry at the same time. I love James and his Father is Charles. If John hadn’t made this so he could keep some of his Dad with him. A first cousin also named Charles that no one knew about. Would not have come forward to donate a kidney. Charles was down to only having weeks left, last I heard he was doing well.
You will be glad to know that his father who appears in the video got the kidney transplant he desperately needed after a relative saw this. At the time of cutting this they did not think they would get a kidney.
I don' t know how many times I've watched James' incredible video and every time I do, it gets right into my heart and the tears flow. I heard James donated all the proceeds of this video to the brilliant UK charity 'Help For Heroes' who do so much wonderful work for ex-servicemen and ex-service women. James and his father were both former officers in the British military. At the time of this one-off take recording, his father had just been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease and he urgently needed a transplant to survive, but they did manage to find one eventually, but when this video was made, the outlook was very grim. Hence the obvious emotion in James eyes.
