The turned brass barrels are a detail up kit by Master Models. There are other companies that also make barrels but Master seems to have a great selection for aircraft and ships.
The main kit I got from a hobby shop called Victory Models. I think they're a distributor for BPK. As for the detail kits, I got them direct from the maker or various online stores.
Have you tried Mr Colour's range of metallics like Super Chrome, Super stainless etc? IMO - they are the BEST paints to wok with and produce very realistic metal finishes and are not grainy and flaky like Tamiya Chrome etc. Stainless is my favourite of all. I use it on everything and anything. The shiniest result of course comes with a loss black base. Regardless of that, your build was awesome and despite the trials and tribulations you had, I'm glad you stuck with it and got it done as I couldn't really see any imperfections. AND, you posed it in the absolute best way: In-flight! (sort of :) )
Thank you. I have decided that as I use up my Tamiya collection I'll be transitioning to Mr Color laquers. Tamiya is too easy to rub off the way I handle my models.
damn - I great to see one of these being built. I have been contemplating getting this but I don't think I hate myself enough to justify that amount of work to get a kit up to spec. I think I'd rather watch someone else do it :) Thanks also for linking that tutorial on window tinting - that is a very novel way to get the job done and with the range of pens out there, your colour choices are massive,
Ho man, to bad you driil the bumps. Does are not windows, they are sensora. They are part of the clocking system, don't need to be lighted. The windows are rectangular and only have a few by the pilons and by the plasma launcher.
@@warmbluelasers Yeah, I know it looks like windows with lights but if you see closely, the light doesn't come from the bumps, they are reflecting the light back. The problem is the technique they use because of the low budget they had to produce the show. Example is that the model ships look white when in reality they have many shades of greys, green and blues. There is a digital image of the original model that shows the bumps as they were. Any way you can say is an artistic license to make them as windows.
The main kit is injection molded plastic like a typical off the shelf kit. The included reskit details are molded resin. The bomb bay kit I added on is 3d printed. For this plane in this scale, yes this is currently the only option.
The footage should be in chronological order. From memory, I did it after full assembly. I had to do some wild masking to do it without overspray. I wish I painted it before final assembly, but learning from each build is a big part of this hobby.
OG bird of prey is awesome! I love the OG and TNG, but you're hard pressed to find a more beautiful ship than the Galaxy Class starship! Even still, the Kilingon Bird of Prey is still my favorite, blame Star Trek IV for that one!
