Everything that everyone said but also… ok… they can grow back an arm complete with neuro-receptors…it’s like growing part of their brain back! I know other creatures can grow back tails, but they don’t taste with their tails!!! I wish there was more information about this.
I would allow them to walk outside just to see what would happen. I believe they'd go back to the aquarium after some exploration. They are just curious.
All eight arms have their own individual brains, and every suction cup can be moved independently. Something that's not often shown on video is how they eat the meat from parts of crustaceans that they can't easily crunch with their beak. They actually crack them open just like we do when eating crab or lobster, and then use the tips of their arms to reach inside and pull out little morsels one by one that they can then move from suction cup to suction cup like a conveyor belt to their mouth.
