I love how DMC5 subtly exhibit how much the twins have changed. Vergil is smiling to present his gratitude for being reborn and obtaining more, if not enough, power. And Dante taking the situation more seriously with a stern face and is ready to truely “end” this conflict instead of joking around.
Dante: embodiment of keeping his fathers legacy pure Vergil: embodiment of his father only for the sake of power to preserve it. Nero: the embodiment of accepting what he has to do for the sake of his family and those around.
I was replaying this game the other day after first playing it back in 2019 and man I completely forgot about this amazing music, it got me so hyped up.
Tbh i think the plot of dmc6(or if it even ever comes out) is that vergil and dante finally finds sparda except he was corrupted by the new demon king, and dante and vergil both lost against they're dada and nero has to clean the mess up and beat the demon king and sparda.
How much I wish they didn't have anyone say "fuck" until this very fight. I didn't even realize in my first playthrough of DMC5 Nero says it in a mission before this. Because when I hit that Devil Trigger and just heard that pure visceral "FUCK YOU" it caught me off guard since the series doesn't swear much. I mean it hit me hard but damn this fight should have been the first time anyone said it, instead of wasting that on a random piece of dialogue.
I love that this song just screams that this is Dante and Vergil's last clash. This fight decides once and for all which is the stronger brother, and the way they saw it, either Dante dies, Vergil dies (again), or they both die. Then a silver bullet interrupts the fight and puts a stop their sibling rivalry.
The song goes from incredibly sad and somber at the horrible circumstances of how we've gotten to this point, with an entire family at each throats attempting to fight and even kill each other. Then it completely changes as we remember that this moment isn't sad, this is the point where the violence can finally end as Nero stops it all and it is actually triumphant.
