If I told you I started as a heritage carpenter, worked in cabinet shops, and owned a small renovation company before moving into the maker world it probably won’t be that much of a stretch once we got to chat for a minute or two.
I'm the owner and main maker for Wood Chip Décor. I love playing with bright colors and designing patterns from inspiration I find. But I also love things that serve a purpose and are beautiful at the same time. So that’s how I design a lot of the items you see here.
This channel thou is a mix of my work and my home. It's kind of a passion project that I started a few years ago and I'm getting back to now. So you'll see a mix of products I make and sell as well as projects I do around my home, one way or the other I'm always making something!
You can shop the things I make in the links below or just follow along with the fun on social either way it's nice to have you here.
You could have just cut the wood with a sharp handsaw and sanded the ends considering you intended to sand the ends anyway, I'm a woodworker interested in trying some driftwood projects too, I did like your final result, oh well, off to the beach tomorrow!!
Same problem, same jointer. Dumb question: how did you remove the clog. I've reached as far as I can and removed as much as I can reach. Will I need to remove one or both tables? Or find a helper with thinner arms?
Hi Liz, can you tell me where you picked up the dust hood for that jointer? I have the exact same unit and I'm struggling to find a hood that fits. Thanks, Rue
@@WoodChipLiz beautiful machines! They are very much under respected and appreciated because most people dont have the patience or skill to tune them and understand them. Great for everything especially dados.
That is so awesome I have a bunch of windows and I just got my She Shed and I am going to make a wall to hide my supplies that I have an overflow of craft items I’m just going to frost the windows and hang them from the rafters down to about a few inches from the ground and there is so much you can do with them that are absolutely beautiful awesome job has just given me more ideas and thank you so much for that
This message is really important for you. I hope you take the time out of your day to read it carefully. The first Shi’a 𝗜mam (Commander of the Faithful) Ali (peace be upon him) said: “People are the enemies of what they are ignorant of” so, i hope you take this message seriously. I’m saying this because I really want what’s best for you, this is from the heart. The 5th Shi’a Imam Abu Ja'far (The Opener of Knowledge) (peace be upon him) said: 'Do not quarrel with the people, for if the people were able to love us, they would have loved us. The 8th imam Ali Son of Musa Al-Reza (the pleasing) (peace be upon him) said: 'May Allah' have Mercy on a servant who revives our matter'. So, Someone said to him 'And how does one revive your matter?'He said: He would learn our knowledge, and teach it to the people. So if the people were to know the excellence of our speech, they would follow us. The 6th imam Ja'far Son of Muhammad (the honest) (peace be upon him) had been asked about the Words of the Exalted: Say: For Allah is the conclusive Proof [6:149], so he said: 'Allah the Exalted would be Saying to the servant on the Day of Judgment: "My servant! Were you a scholar?" So if he says, Yes'. He would Say to him: "So why didn't you act with what you knew?" And if he says, "I was ignorant', He would Say to him: "So why didn't you learn until you could act?" This is how He (Allah) would Contend with him. This is the conclusive proof. Why I’m telling you all of this you may ask? It’s because I want you to support the Lady of heaven movie that depects the story of Lady Fatima the daughter of prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) and her suffering and standing up for herself in the face of evil. What happened to her is the origin of the day of torment for the people of the household (peace be upon them all) whether by doing a reaction to the Trailer or attending the AMC theaters on December 10 , 2021 in the US to watch it early or spreading the word using your social media platforms or all of the above ❤️❤️
she is so dang cute!! congrats again! and don't worry too much, you'll soon be into a routine and can (sort of) plan things out...mostly...lol. keep it up!
@@WoodChipLiz yep, they do that...i have 2 that did the same thing...they're both now in their 20's so i don't have to deal with that anymore...........much...lol
You could have scribed the baseboard to make it fit. I’m sure you know how, but here’s the basic idea: Clamp the board in place with the top edge parallel with the edge you want it to end up even with. It will of course be higher because of the hump in the floor. Set your compass to that extra height (which should be equal to the maximum amount of material you need to remove) Then run the compass along the floor using the pencil to trace the contour onto the wood. Trim to the line and Roberta is your auntie!
The wooden necklace tip - brilliant! This is the sort of project that you have just about finished by the time you figured out the best way to do it! Using the scraps to make fixtures was great.
These pumpkins are really cute! I saw you adding finish to the edges at the very end; what kind of finish was it? Also, did you put any finish over the painted surface?
Great work 👏 love that you use power tools. Sending some love and support your way. New subscriber. Hope you can do the same and support my channel as well
Good work Liz, but can I suggest you do some research on dust collection and in particular air flow. For dust collection to work at its best, you want to avoid reducing the airflow of the dust collection unit. By sealing up all those small gaps, you are actually making things worse. The DC will not get sufficient airflow just from the gap around your jointer blade, it needs to be able to suck more air. All those little gaps actually help. Think of it this way. You have a 4" hose, believe it or not but that is about 16 Sq inches of surface area. The unit therefore needs about 16 sq inches of gaps to maximise airflow. Also, whilst the mess is a real pain in the butt, it is the fine dust that you cannot see that does damage to your lungs. This stuff floats around the shop and over time leaves that dust you find on shelves and all over the place. The DC needs to capture as much of that dust as possible, which it cannot do if you chock the airflow. Good luck with it all.

You are awesome! I was just using my Jet jointer yesterday of similar design and was feeling the same frustration. Thanks.
