I love Horse Racing and taped every broadcast off TV since 1990 to present so I have slowly uploaded the gazillions of videos I have to youtube.
I also love Depeche Mode, Erasure, and the Pet Shop Boys and have tons of coverage that I taped off the TV and traded for over the years so that will go up over time too.
I've enjoyed all the footage everyone has shared, so I will now return the favour. :)
I still cry when I watch Secretariat win this race. But, if you're observant you can see when Sham breaks his leg. His head bobbing changes. My heart breaks for him, especially since he had to be put down when they realized that his leg couldn't be repaired.
"[19] “Do you give the horse its strength or clothe its neck with a flowing mane? [20] Do you make it leap like a locust, striking terror with its proud snorting? [21] It paws fiercely, rejoicing in its strength, and charges into the fray. [22] It laughs at fear, afraid of nothing; it does not shy away from the sword. [23] The quiver rattles against its side, along with the flashing spear and lance. [24] In frenzied excitement it eats up the ground; it cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds. [25] At the blast of the trumpet it snorts, ‘Aha!’ It catches the scent of battle from afar, the shout of commanders and the battle cry." Job 39:19-25
Jack Whitaker was the lead CBS TV sportscaster for this race. He had a long Hall of Fame career covering major events in a bunch of different sports. He lived to be 95, and to his dying day always said that the most inspiring & thrilling event he ever covered was 1973’s Belmont Stakes. And that, unequivocally, the best athlete he ever saw - Human or Animal - was Secretariat. Quite a testimonial 🌟 R.I.P. to 2 greats of Sport, Secretariat & Jack Whitaker 🌈
There are two videos involving horses that bring me to tears every single time. This one with the magnificent Greatest of All Time, Secretariat. And the post 9-11 Budweiser spot where the huge Chydesdale horse bows to honor the victims in Manhattan. Overwhelming. Horses connect directly to our souls.
After watching the replay and re-figuring the distance between Secretariat and 2nd place, it was determined that the actual distance was 31 lengths, not 25 like Chic Anderson called. Simply Amazing. And then, God looked down and made a Race Horse, and they named him Secretariat.
Uma Musume truly introduced me to the world of horse racing. I hope to see Secretariat in the game sometime soon since he's literally the GOAT of all horses.
I saw him in person at Longacres Race Track on his triple crown promo tour. My Dad smuggled me in as I was too young, but I wanted to see him. I got to see him on the shed row after too,. He was an amazing horse, but sweet and laid back as soon as he was off the track. His workout rider said even just exercising, he just wouldn't stand to have another horse beat him, or feel like they were ahead.
We have seen something we've never seen before or will ever see again. Secretariat's Belmont win was surreal, almost mystical! The greatest horse of all time became a legend after this race and an immortal. R.I.P.
I can't watch this race without crying every time. He is the most incredible athlete I have ever seen. I am so lucky to have been alive to see this race actually happen. I stand in awe today at his incredible achievements. What a horse he was and I doubt there will ever be another like him in my lifetime
I get absolutely overwhelmed every time I see this race... I'm sure I've commented on this exact video before, but damn, there's nothing I can do. Such an incredible horse.
! Secretariat ... Big Red ! What a magnificent beautiful horse. The fastest horse to win the Triple Crown, all 3 legs. He won the Belmont Stakes in 1973 by "31 lengths incredible". Amazing 3 races ... the Triple Crown Winner, well deserved. Love the movie "Secretariat" with Diane Lane who did a great job in her role as "Penny Chenery". I watch every time it is aired on TV. Also, own the DVD which I watch all the time. This is one of my favorite movies and never tire watching. Also, a favorite to watch is the movie "Seabiscut". Today is Sept. 11, 2024. ❤❤😊😊 *Unfortunately, this is still a very sad day for all citizens of the U.S.A. God Bless the U.S.A. ! * ❤❤
A 22 length lead for a 22 lbs heart, I get chills thinking about how he was an anomaly that just so happened to be born into the right circumstances to become a champion
To put in perspective he ran that so fast you can hold your breath til he reaches the finish line.. 2 min 24 seconds - Start it again and see if you can hold your breath til he finishes 😂 beautiful horse.
