I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

Putting well-earned money into the stock market can't be over emphasised for first-time investors, unlike a bank where interest is sure thing! It happens in everything we are ambitious for. We don't know when to quit when we are addicted to the gains. We plateau and want to cheat to get the feeling of the gains back.

If you have a paid-off house, rather get a mortgage on it ans use this as lerverage and invest it. Far better risk managament than an option that expires when the market is down 😂

Wow. So institutions make commission free options, develop a system to short volatility, get comfortable raking in cash. What happens if there’s a major market event that spikes volatility? Could the big guys get squeezed and lead to a crash?
just buy random sub dollar biotechs each month, say 100 bucks worth per company... If they go down, you lose the equivalent of a few coffees at Starbucks without the huge risk of a margin call. When one of them does pop and gain 3000% you finally buy that beach condo in Miami🤑🤑🤑🤑💰💰💰💰
In my experience the fastest way to lose money is combining options and impatience. The thing about options is that (simplistically) you need to not just be right about which way a price will go but also when it will go. Yes I know..staddles…blah blah blah I’m not talking about that. Buying short term out of the money options might be fun but you’re topping out on two bets and you’re probably going to be wrong about at least one of them. But….if you have a logical long-ish term investment thesis, buying leaps (long term options) can provide a lot of leverage. It also provides you time to change your mind so if that thesis doesn’t look like it’s going to pan out you might be able to cash out with a least a reasonable percentage of your original investment.
The problem with “investing in myself” is that I then need to work for the rest of my life to get my return. That’s like taking a negotiation course so I can more profitably sell myself into slavery.
