2000 Ranger bushing kit and I must have bumped it into a gear during disassembly. Closed it up and NO shift locked in position. Back apart and was able to achieve the position you highlighted and reassembled. Test drive was weird. After more than a year of sloppy ass shifting, the “H” pattern is about the size of a playing card ! A much needed video with the clarity and narration needed to understand and accomplish the repair.

My lever got stuck all the way in 2nd gear. I took the shifter off and saw that one of those round spring loaded domes was pressed all the way down. I tried to fiddle with it with a screwdriver to get it loose but the dome seems to be stuck. I’d hate to drop the whole transmission just to repair, it what would you suggest on getting it unstuck?
No. I had my top off because I was working on it, and replaced all those the gaskets and the clutch. The only way this method will fix your issue, is if you took the shifter itself off (like to replace the bushings), and put it back in, and then it was stuck in gear. Simply pull the shifter off (three bolts and the shifter stick), use a long screw driver, and shift all the forks so they all line up, and when you put the stick back in, make sure it falls into the center row, like I showed in the video, and it will be fixed. If the transmission was working fine, then all of a sudden one day it was stuck, this is not your issue
@@MVP11489 no I was pulling the stick off the top of the trans mission and I pulled the stick out of the transmission while it was in gear and now I can’t get it out of gear
@@chandlerstuart1702 oh gotcha. So yep, just gotta pull the stick back out, not the top plate, center all three shift forks like on the video, with a screw driver or something, slap the stick back in the center and you should be all good to go 👍
No you can do it from the top where the shifter goes in . Take a flat head and most of the time you can get the pieces to act right. If they act stupid jack the rear end up so your tires are off the ground and that should do it
Does anybody I have any idea I have a 1995 lowboy dump truck with a five speed manual transmission for some reason it is stuck in reverse and I have leaned hard on the shifter the clutch is working fine and I cannot get the truck out of reverse tommyfl59@yahoo.com
If you have not taken it apart recently, and it just all of a sudden got stuck, there is most likely some sort of internal issue. Could be something as simple as a snapped roll pin, could be a broken fork or slider. Could be a lot of things really. The issue I showed in my video is if you removed the shifter for whatever issue, and put it back in the wrong position.

I have a 2011 Ford Ranger stick shift anyway tried to take the stick off quicker by using a hammer to tap the setscrew then when I put it back together it was like stuck in third or fifth if it wasn’t for your video I almost would’ve had to take it to a shop or something thanks again man!!

Oh man. Really early. Season 1 or 2. Came out a few days after I posted this video. I was able to get episodes before they aired, hence the message at the bottom of the screen.
I have a Mg Magnette which seems to stuck in a gear. when I start the car in neutral the car jerks forward, therefore even though my shifter says its in neutral I don't think it is. Would you be able to help me?
That's why I worked von it in the first place the shifter went all the way down when in second gear I thought replacing the bushings and all with the kit would solve it
I'm asking if the problem happened randomly, or did you do some work to the trans, put it back together and then had this problem. If the latter, then you must have misaligned something. If the first thing, then it sounds like something broke. If the shifter goes down, as in shift into second and the shifter keeps going (like about to hit the seats) then the top of the shift fork may have broken as that is one of the only possibility I can think of that would allow all the other gears to still work. I'm not an expert by any means, just the only thing I can think of. I'd pull that top cover off and see what's going on
@@MVP11489 thanks it was like that before I took the cover off to replace the shifter rebuild kit the part of the shifter that goes into the transmission looks ok but I will take it out again and maybe go to the store and compare to another one. I put it back together without it being in neutral and saw a video and put it in neutral with a screw driver. I'm working on from inside the truck. BTW. EunChan Park thanks :). Figuring out how to make the IR sensor and tone work together took over a week's worth of researching to figure out. Had to edit the library itself since both wanted to use pin 9 lol. And I'm rusty as hell with C++ language haha. Was going to also put an MP3 shield and SD card driver, but I simply don't have the room in this particular project :( Ill be sure to post up the finished product once I'm done :)
Michael Haworth Do you own one? I've never seen another one, and ive only ever found one other that was one of those u haul truck looking campers (class b or c, I forget which). This one had been sitting for over 20 years on one spot, and about 10 years before that in another spot. Roof had collapsed about 10 years in, so you can imagine how bad the interior was. But even still, I was surprised how well the walls and parts of the floor were still intact and very well built. I still have the frame, ive made it into a flatbed trailer. I may one day rebuild it as I have the original schematics for it, shows every dimension and detail.
