This nurse should be the standard that nurses follow. I dont know what they gave her but apparently they got her out of withdrawl and thats what is important. People get into these messes and then when they try to turn around to come out they get lost and cant find their way out of addiction. Withdrawl is hell, I have never felt such desperation and hopelessness as i have withdrawling from opiates. That nurse wen out of her way to be a human towards this lady and that means everything.
I am a veteran. I have been to the Tomb of the Unknown 4 separate times, 3 in the early '80's while as a police officer, bringing our Safety Patrol students to D.C. I couldn't help but to become very emotional each time. (I'll never forget the first time I saw the inscription on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.. "Here Rests in Honored Glory, an American Soldier known but to God!" I was able to visit my fourth time 3 years ago, as a veteran with the Old Glory Honor Flight out of Appleton, Wisconsin. All the memories quickly came back and I couldn't contain my emotions. Every American patriot must make this trip and I highly recommend that ALL veterans, no mater what their rank, duty or position while in active duty, whether or not they were in active combat, make the trip to Arlington! It doesn't make any difference how you served. Keep in mind the Viet Nam veteran remembrance slogan that states... "All Gave Some, Some Gave All!" If you served at all, you gave some! Thousands of patriotic citizens, groups and especially supporting businesses and corporations have stood up to recognize, remember and treasure all of our veterans from all services, and are very happy to support the various Honor Flight causes throughout the nation because they know of the sacrifice that all veterans gave to their country, and they WANT to show their appreciation. I know of many donors from Wisconsin who beg all veterans to advantage of this wonderful salute to their service. Please tell/urge EVERY American Veteran, actual combat or any of all the other duties that keep our military working, to sign up for an Honor Flight. It will be a life-long event that you will never forget!

The medical facilities I've been in over 25 years of chronic pain and physical disabilities have treated me like trash. From top of California to the bottom just like shit. I've been made to know im worthless and a waste of human life. Plus been misdiagnosed repeatedly. Ya this is a fantasy.
currently in active addiction. I desperately want to get off of opiates. living life in between being high, taking just enough for maintenance, and going through withdrawals is no way to live. sick of the cycle and trying to figure my way out without losing my job and having my whole life fall apart in order to get sober. talking to my primary care physician tomorrow to see how I can start living life without this bullshit in it anymore. scared no one will take me seriously/actively treat me like shit for being an addict. wish me luck, I guess. to anyone else in a similar situation, keep your hope up that things can get better.

It really depends on the veteran and how and when they served. For Vietnam veterans, “welcome home” is more appropriate, some have never heard those two words……
I’m confused I wish they didn’t cut out the meds the docter perscribed her to make her feel better. Unless I missed it. What did they give her for pain medication? Was it an opioid like morphine, delauded?
I've been to the hospital a few times for withdrawal, I've been treated very badly and very well depending on the hospital and the specific nurses/doctors who treated me. At Yale New Haven Hospital they now have an addiction medicine team that specializes in keeping addicts comfortable and headed in the right direction. Every hospital should have a team like this.
I was a nursing student that got addicted to opioids and had to drop out of nursing school. I just started a channel on addiction , it’s such a terrible thing but also so misunderstood. There are lots of ways to ease the symptoms and I really wish someone would have told me about AA, I didn’t know about it until my 2nd rehab and it saved my life. Alcoholism and all addiction issues are related and the program works for any kind of addiction not just alcohol
Im 75. My whole life I've wanted to go to DC JUST to vistit Arlington. My husband and I got the chance in '98 shortly after the Unknown Soldier from Vietnam had been identified and disinterred to be buried with his family. I couldn't believe how poignant, somber and moving the changing of the guard was. If you get the chance go see it. And there are other videos on YT about the guards themselves and of course stories about the people buried or memorialized at Arlington. 🙏🏻❤️🇺🇲 And if you get to DC, be sure and visit the Korean War Memorial. It might be the MOST moving thing I have ever seen. Nineteen 7' statues portraying our troops going through a rice paddy at night, in the rain as evidened by their ponchos. It is mesmerizing. You can picture those young men going through the paddy. SO moving!
I've never had any nurse ever treat me like a human being. Was laughed at, told I did it to myself even after finding out i had CHF. They don't care. I know maybe they shouldn't but at least help! You should be treated how they would want one of their family members treated! Is still a damn shame
