Hi, the mod is a ase utra jet z compact, there superb mods and are very well made. It's a shame about the laws you guys have to deal with over there in some ways, I like how you can have semi auto centerfires though......we cant unfortunately
@@Veteranvermincontrol Owning a centre-fire semi-auto is pretty hard though. The 2 easiest options are you have to be a pest controller with contracted customers AND show that the business is your only source of income. Option 2 is a primary producer. Any of the other ways are harder again, military collectors, film armouries, not really any other options than that.
Nice shooting! The scope is amazing. I use a PARD DS35 70LRF and for a budget scope, it's really good. I am going to have to get a Bog Deathgrip though, the stability it seems to give is just what I need.
@RabbitBusters Cheers mate🙏 In do like the zulus there superb value for money! I've never looked through a DS35 but hear good things about them. The bog deathgrip is a game changer for me, I'm looking at fitting a ball head with arca swiss on it down the line
@@Veteranvermincontrol If you get the chance, my channel is 99% PARD video if you want to take s look. Thanks for getting back to me. Good hunting mate.
At the moment I'm just using the fps given on the box, I will chrony it soon along with a few other guns and get the ballistics set up so there on the money
Hi I think its because I have been using my phone to record some footage and when I rotate to camera it gives a mirror image, will figure it out so that It doesn't. All zulus's come as they are so no LH versions, which personally I see no need for and I'm left handed 👍
Yeah I will have a play around with the setting on the camera see if I can sort it. I've not encountered any issues with the bolt not being able to cycle due to interference from the moneys or the unit, it sits quite high as it is so should clear most bolts, on the tikka its 60' bolt throw so no chance of that but on my howa 1500 that's got a much more open bolt throw and it works absolutely fine, there cracking little scopes for the money 👍
Hi, im looking at getting a zulus for my t1x but not sure what mount to go for, i would like to keep it as a dovetail but that comes in 35moa from optics warehouse and i thought it would be too much. Or would I be better going the picatinny route? Id be using it for rabbits from 50-150yds Thanks
Hi I'm not aware of any dovetail mounting options for the zulus as yet so cant say. But for your HMR I think the 0moa mount would work, I've currently got a 35moa mount on mine which has been shimmed because it was on my fac airgun and it works, but I've just got another zulus and it came with a 0 moa mount, which I will put on my HMR and hopefully it will work, will report back soon👍
Another great video. I did try a Zulus but found it too complicated and reliant on my phone to operate, superb image but a fiddle to use/programme. I've made these comments on a few reviews and forums and recieved a personal contact from Arken, acknowleging this is a problem as there have been a large number of similar comments worldwide. They are in the process of simplifying it and doing away with the need for the phone app. The new upgraded "user friendly" Zulus will be available later this year.
Thanks Antony I appreciate the comment, I'm not all that good with technology, and i did have a few moments when i was scratching my head with the set up of the zulus, but once i got familiar with it i found it easy to use, like you say many people have raised the issue you mentioned and i think it will be good for many users who want a more simplistic approach to use. I'm excited to see what the next few years hold for the arken zulus and the brand on the whole. Thanks again for your comment
You need to replace that 1" pic rail with a 1/4" and lower that scope .....or get another stock with an adjustable cheek ....you're waaaay up there over the bore ... also ...that can is massive for a lil 22 rf .....that made for a 22-250 ??
Pic rail was just a quick way to get the zulus on the rifle, down the line it will be swapped out for something more suitable when I've got a chassis for it, just a temporary measure The moderator is a .17HMR caliber specific over barrel/backdraft silencer, built for rimfires as such👍
Nice video buddy. I'm relatively new to the .17hmr scene, as been using the .22lr for donkeys years. Can I ask what mod and rifle you're using ?. Looks like a CZ 457, but can't be sure ?.
Hi mate, thanks for the comment . I ditched my .22lr after getting the HMR as I felt it was a more versatile round and I was more productive with it than the .22lr The rifle is a tikka t1x with a wildcat panther moderator. I did have a cz457 in .22lr but the tikka is a better choice in my opinion, that's not to say its better, I just prefer the 3 position safety. That said the synthetic stock on the CZ was much better than the tikkas. If you can try some Remington accu-tips 17g give them a try there equally as good as the hornady vmax 👍
I'm using the 35moa rail on the zulus and I've then put a cheap picatinny rail on the gun from Amazon. I do sometimes fit a external IR with an adjustable mount onto the zulus itself. Or you could fit a offset mount if you have space on the picatinny rail 👍
Hopefully this link will work mate, what rifle are you putting it on? www.amazon.co.uk/FOCUHUNTER-Tactical-Picatinny-Converter-Lightweight/dp/B08JTRW47R/ref=sxin_19_pa_sp_phone_search_thematic_sspa?content-id=amzn1.sym.463b7ff5-5485-4078-b5dc-c8c41bfc1358%3Aamzn1.sym.463b7ff5-5485-4078-b5dc-c8c41bfc1358&crid=27L4RVC4EFMI3&cv_ct_cx=picatinny+rail&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.keDHThH__MFXm4-iGL_u5op80Y0PXN2YpQoam86_zkH1PcwBhjJW9PaKXqI-EmAQewayVTs2BkE4uYQvD29l_g.oSCaf75_zF0qEsTIG6dzacAOW8VyqDyelnpEU_fmxFo&dib_tag=se&keywords=picatinny+rail&pd_rd_i=B08JTRW47R&pd_rd_r=9bbded77-e71e-4155-b504-7464b97fde1a&pd_rd_w=MJERk&pd_rd_wg=g3IlQ&pf_rd_p=463b7ff5-5485-4078-b5dc-c8c41bfc1358&pf_rd_r=TQQ4D3GKSP2VHDMBYNA4&qid=1716278383&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sprefix=picatinny+ra%2Caps%2C195&sr=1-2-ad3222ed-9545-4dc8-8dd8-6b2cb5278509-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfdGhlbWF0aWM&psc=1
Regarding zero range I used to zero at 100yrds but I now zero at 42 yrds and it keeps it nice and flat out to 130yrds, I want to play around with a 75 yard zero to see if I can maximize the trajectory for shooting flat out to 150yrds. What do you zero yours at?
Sorry should have said, shots on rabbits were recorded through the arken zulus, I do have another camera that I sometimes bring out and set up on target but I was only zeroing so just put the kill shots up
Hi, do you use a standard trigger in the howa or upgraded please? I’m with you on the hares as we don’t seem to have high numbers here in Devon but if we did and I was told to thin them out it’ll be done.
Hi I believe my howa is a 2012 model which as the older and less admired trigger than the newer ones, I'm used to it and can print 0.5 MOA groups with it if I do my part. Working on somemore homeloads so hopefully I can replicate that again. I love seeing the hares, there great to watch, hopefully I can get then to a point where I can rest them and enjoy watching them again 👍
@@Veteranvermincontrol 🇦🇺😎👍I think they were legal in some states years ago. Perhaps they may be legal for people with cat C&D weapons licences which are not accessible to the public. In Western Australia they’ve just taken away all bolt action rifles 284 Nosler and above and they are talk on about a 5 gun limit for safety. Also there talking about national uniform gun laws which pretty much unifies the states to restrict gun ownership. These people never give an inch and they are constantly inventing ways ( and succeeding ) to take our licences away.
They shot well out of mine, as did the 53g superformance which were a touch better, if I remember rightly the 53g superformance pit in a 15mm group at 100yrds.....cant argue with that for a factory round
Have you done much varminting with a .22 lr or .17 hmr? Recently got a .22 and eyeing a .17 hmr exchange barrel when they come back in stock. Distances where I can hunt are no longer then 150 at most, I reckon the 17 hmr should do a decent job on everything up to foxes. At least a fair number of folks have a lot of success with the 17 on foxes.
Hi , zero on paper was bang on (100yrds) then I put the steel out at 200yrds, and the two shots on steel are a touch lower than the red circle, but still fall within MOA at 200yrds and would result in a dead fox ect Like I say I want to test a bit more with the scope and my home loads and tweak things to the set up👍
Hi, it can be quite difficult as most places will likely have someone who shoots, but its always worth asking, if you dont ask you dont get. I would recommend printing some letters out and get them pushed through as many places as you can, keep going till you get a result, once you have a permission and you do a good job its likely you will be recomend to other land owner's.......good luck 👍
Thanks mate, I absolutely love the zulus, I'm waiting for the 3-12 version to come out as that would sit nicely on my FAC airgun and work well with the wider field of view, thanks for watching 👍
hi Paul i was using an additional IR to save battery life on the zulus, the halo effect most likely comes from shooting it on low mag at longer ranges, i have noticed if i go to x7 it fills the display much better on longer shots, used the x5 setting on ratsvand it fills the screen as its a lot closer. thanks for watching
hi Paul thanks for watching, i think the halo effects is due to the distance i was shooting on base mag x5, therefore not quite filling the display, i did notice when the mag is up past x5 its a full screen. worth mentioning the additional IR inwas using may have also caused this halo effect as its avle to reach out to 400yrds so even when dimmed down to its widest it may have caused the halo on lower mag, next time im out i will try the onboard IR to check and get back to you
@@paulh71 yeah I suspect its because there for reaching out further so on the closer shots they naturally tunnel, how far can you get out to with the Sirius?
thanks for watching tom, just getting to grips with the tech and how to upload ect, will put more content up soon as im going to get a camera and document my sessions in more detail. thanks for watching
Windy night with the HMR but it was still a formidable tool to thin out the Rabbits, sadly the Hares need to be controlled on here at the wish of the landowner, a few rats fell victim on the way back to the van. In one clip I forgot to flick the IR on but the Zulus was still able to make out the Rabbits. Thanks for watching
