I am just trying to get through life being as kind and gentle as I can be. I know what it feels like to have your whole world flipped upside down. I know what it feels like to be surprised, and blindsided by some seriously evil crap.
Are you and your husband certified scuba divers and do you and your husband have your own scuba gear like wetsuit and dive gloves and dive hood and dive boots and dive fins and dive masks and scuba tanks and bcds and regulators to breath from and do you and your husband breath underwater with scuba regulators
I have memories with both of these men. Mr. Shoop was my landlord growing up, and spent many days in his shop just hanging out and talking. And Mr. Toy uses to cut my uncles hair. My uncle also lived in an apartment above his shop, right across from street from where our apartment was.
The small church which is what we call freeports historical museum when I was about 6 years old I was walking through town with my babysitter and others who were being watched with me and we stopped to help clean the place up because it was gonna be torn down and I belive it was the two individuals in this video that I met that day freeport has a lot of amazing rich history that needs to be appreciated more and myself would like to be more involved with the history here
Lived there in the late 70s/early 80s. I recall the elders saying New Ken died when the built projects close to downtown and put Penn Sate New Ken far away. Had they reversed this New Ken would be a nice small college town a la Clarion.
Grew up there in the 80s-90s. I love it bc its home but…its good to see it being revitalized! Thanks for shining a light! I’m looking forward to seeing it all the next time I’m back up there!
Love the note and am excited for you to come back. New Ken just did their first ever, ‘Friday’s on Fifth’ and it was a massive success. Tons and tons of people came out to enjoy the weather and new businesses. 😀
That’s what the ladies in the coffee shop were saying. It was a huge, vibrant city at one time. What we (and they!) are excited about is the investments coming in to bring it back! #iLOVEbiff
@@Startingoverblume so glad you had fun. Thinking of visiting for hunt week. My FB business page is JT Equestrian. Your commentary is how I feel every time. Enjoy it as long as you can
I like this, thank you for sharing. This is the most realistic video I've seen. Meaning it is a regular home that has lots of items and just regular furniture and it looks lived in. A lot of the staging videos I have watched seemed to be large expensive homes with modern furniture and fancy kitchens and minimal stuff around. And not much needed changing. I want to see homes that have older things, older furniture in it and mismatched stuff and have clutter, more like the average person's home like mine. Lol. I know I will need to get rid of a lot of things and be bold about it. I have a realtor friend who is coming round to my home next week to give me advice on staging. I am watching videos to get an idea and it looks like I have my work cut out for me. I have a lot of stuff! I don't want to spend much money but I may have to change living space flooring. As my carpet is ruined in spots due to my dog scratching it up in areas and the Kitchen floor vinyl is rough. I don't know how much it will cost to get some basic laminate flooring down. I think it'll make a difference though. I will see what my realtor friend says. I'm nervous about this whole thing but really need to sell and be done with our house. It's just a burden to me and my husband and we have to move on and downsize to a smaller place and maybe rent for a while. We then won't have to deal with yard work and home maintenance etc. There is always something that needs replacing and fixing in our home. It's only a 15 yr old home too. It's ridiculous.
My Dad and his brothers and sister grew up in Freeport, my folks moved to Iowa and I remember the summers I got to spend. Then I was in the US Air Force and spent 4 years at The Pentagon. It was a 5 hour drive from Northern Virginia to Freeport. Now, the family is gone and the changes are all for the good of Freeport.
Love local the Front Porch and love the people that work there. You have a great atmosphere with a family touch. Thank you Michelle for your visit to the Front Porch and letting America know about Neighborhood eateries and the need to support them. Why go to a franchise when you have a kick ass neighborhood restaurant right next-door
Wow, Michelle, You & Wyatt are really getting a lot of work. I’ve enjoyed seeing your videos. I sure hope that you’re getting the recognition and support that you deserve. Have a great Labor Day!!! I can’t believe that another Summer has passed. Of course now the fall weather in Murrells Inlet should be Perfect. Take Care 💞💜💞💜💞💜💞
My husband and I were married in that church June 23, 1984 by then Reverend Foster. Although we are Catholic now, I am happy that this church is still going strong. Thank you Pastor Clever!
This is fantastic! What a great idea to put in Freeport. We always struggle giving our Golden Retriever a bath. Our back just kills us bending over the tub, always have to take short breaks while bathing her. I can't wait to try All Paws Pet Wash out. Thank you to the owners!
Mr. Shoop was my landlord growing up too for probably 10 years. My brother and I would go down to the shop and hang out with him and talk. I remember going down there with my brother to ask him if we could have a cat. I was probably 8 or 9.
It would have been nice to see Clyde Leri in the interview . He was born, raised and lived in Freeport for 8 decades and was very active in the community and Freeport Park and served for many years as Fire Chief. He will soon be 94 and would have lots to add to Bus and John’s stories and memories.
Linda Leri absolutely would have loved to meet and interview Clyde. Unfortunately I do not know Clyde and everyone was invited to participate. Maybe next time!
Love this! My mother is from Freeport, grew up there during the 60s, 70s, and 80s! She always talked about how much she loved living there... and now I get to lean more about Freeport!!!
I grew up in Freeport, I lived right on the river between the high rise and Freeport beverage. It was a nice little town to grow up in as a kid. I wish they would have highlighted Freeport beverage in this, Mr Smith is just the nicest person in the world. One time when I was probably 9 or so, I rode my bike there to buy a YooHoo (in the glass bottle). I got on my bike one handed to pedal home and hit the curb, crashed, and wrecked. The bottle broke and I didn't have money to buy another. Mr. Smith just gave me another one and was very kind to me.
This is an awesome video! Love the parts on the community park. Such great memories. Can't think of any park that compares to Freeport Community Park!!!
I was born and raised in Freeport ,Pa 1965 until i was 12 Moved to Sarver ,Pa My Dad is a Barber on 5th st still working part time he is 84. We had great times growing up in this little town we call home .Home is where the heart is God bless our wonderful community.I will never forget the best of times and through some floods and blizzards . Made awesome best friends be always the best to me blessings are counted . Thank you for all Freeport loved our teams and school Jackets forever ! We are Freeport ....
I grew up in Sarver too, my husband grew up in South Buffalo, but I always stayed with my best friend on the weekends in Freeport. Such great memories in Freeport. Hanging out at Fox's Pizza when it was on High Street after football games and dances at the Lutheran Church. As an adult my husband and I moved away for quite awhile partly because he enlisted in the Army. Then lived in WV for 13 yrs after the military but Freeport was calling us. We lived in New Ken for a few years until something became available in Freeport. Finally we moved to Freeport in 2012 then found a nice place in South Buffalo in 2017. We feel at home now. Freeport will forever be home. I have always loved the history of Freeport, I bought Steven Gardner's book The History of Freeport, Pennsylvania. Love it! I love how they are revitalizing Freeport Park. And one more thing, although my children were not raised in Freeport, they love Freeport. It's a great place, family friendly. 💗 🏡 🏞 Oh BTW Mike, we went to school together. Lol!
Your father cut my grandfather hair for many many years! I remember going with him a few times to the shop. My mom, brother and I lived right on 5th street too. I hope to move back to freeport next year.
