I explore the UK's wild places, mountains and long distance trails!

These videos are not intended to be used as guides or routes but just me documenting my journey and doing what I love most! I’d be doing it anyway whether I’m on RU-vid or not!
Very interesting, never been that way before- closest I've been is Pendle Hill I think, the other side of Clitheroe. Looks like there's some good hills down there.😄
@@cragratoutdoors Ooh a tick list is addictive! I'm still working my way through the Yorkshire Dales 30 list. Then probably off to do the rest of the Wainwright's. 😊🐏
Yes, I met a warden earlier this year who said it was one of the largest nesting areas for Blackheaded Gulls in the UK. Hopefully they didn't keep you awake all night?
I use the os map app to research routes. There is a function to look at others public routes saved on there otherwise I’ll just look at public rights of way and figure something out.
Another excellent video, Jason. Very enjoyable, well put together and the sound is excellent. It looks like a decent microphone with the dead cat on. Could’ve watched that for a lot longer. My only complaint is drinking Twinings tea on Yorkshire day. 😮. 😉
@@johnnystramash cheers pal! It’s a 1st gen rode mic. I’ll upgrade again when it breaks but the sound quality is spot on and they hold a long charge too. Apologies for the tea 😂
Great camp, looks nice & peaceful there, weve camped in the forwst there before, a January cold camp😁, lovely area, ive not used a bivy bag yet, was thinking of getting one for the tops of rocky mountains wer its difficult to pitch a tent👍
Cheers mate. They are great if the weather is kind. I maybe could do with a tarp as well but it think if you’re buying both you may as well have a tent! Love this area now!
@cragratoutdoors i was looking at the Rab trailhead bivy, looks more like a big sleeping bag though🤣, was just thinking might be nice at the summit of a rocky mountain under the stars wer cant pitch a tent then cover up if it rains, it is nice round there, i need to do some more exploring there😁👍👍
@@WildBorkysadventures they look a decent bivi and you can’t go wrong with Rab. I’ve found that going back to my bivi it has given another perspective to being outdoors. Love laying there looking out!
Enjoying your videos! Might have to add this hike to my bucket list. In many cultures, the centre is considered highly auspicious. In Vedic culture, this concept is known as the Brahmasthan, which symbolizes a point of balance and harmony, representing a connection between the earthly and the divine. Keep up the great work!
Wow what an atmospheric adventure, the landscape was most certainly bleak, yet the change in cloudy blue skies changed the mood. Loved the music. Thankyou for sharing!
Thank you 👍🏻- what a time to be out with all that heather! I will check that pub out next time I’ve over that way. I’m not sure if I’ve been in it before? I’d like to do it again but Castleton to Whitby next time!
Watching this from the top of the Slieve Bloom mountains in the heart of the Emerald Isle. I'm shattered but not a sign of sleep. Wind is howling outside but tent is sturdy as hell, not a movement inside. I should be conked out but sleep just won't happen. We all get nights like that.
Thank you for watching - as far as I know that’s probably the most remote place anyone has watched my videos. Sleep can be fickle at times - I hope you have the best of adventures and the weather is kinder to you in the morning!
Good morning sir. I'm afraid weather has deteriorated. Rain and clag as far as the eye can see... which is about a 100 meters 😂😅 Coffee is good though 😅
New viewer/subscriber, great videos 👍🏻 I'm really wanting to get into a bit of wild camping but I'm a complete camping virgin, got no gear or idea at the moment. Love the views and peacefulness 👌🏻
Thanks Greg - really appreciate it. Takes a while to get your gear together - practised setting up at home. I’ve made tons of of mistakes but never had a disaster (famous last words!)😂
Oh. Not sure what happened there. I don’t meet the eligibility criteria for RU-vid’s partner programme. Even if I did I’m not in it for the money. If RU-vid get something for the adverts I’m pretty sure I’m not getting a kickback! Thanks for watching anyway and letting me know. ATB Jason
I camped there last Friday but it didn’t feel that remote as the spot you camped on was already taken! We had to pitch our tents on all the peat next to the trig points. A great night but the cleaning took a while the following day.
Yeah I guessed as much as that patch of grass was well flattened long before I arrived! I think there are one or two other spots close by but once I’d seen the spot by the stones I wasn’t going any further! I can only imagine the mess the peat threw up!
Hi just watched updated remote peak district video which was good equipment advice. I was going to watch it again but then it seem to disappear off your list. 😮
Yeah I don’t know what happened there! It was meant to drop this coming Thursday! Can you wait until then or I can adjust the settings and send you the link again? Yeah I left it unlisted for any copyright music issues to be resolved and then forgot to properly set release date. Hey but you had a private screening!
Another really good video, Jason. God’s own country. I love the north York moors. My grandad was a railway man at York and had use of a railway cottage at Grosmont through York RI. Still remember going up there as a toddler in the late 60’s. I have not been on YT much of late due to work (and sacked Fb and instagram off too) but enjoy your content and am catching up with it. Please keep the videos coming and sorry for the loss of your dad. Best wishes as always, John. (Johnny Stramash Keto150)
Thank you Johnny - the Moors is a fantastic area. Great childhood memories for you. If you fancy a walk this way let me know Don’t blame you for the digital detox either!
Yup digital detox!😁 and deffo up for walking later in summer. Recently did a 20 miler around York and also the Harrogate Ringway, which is similar distance. Yorkshire has an abundance of riches.👍🙂
Thanks for taking me along. Many changes from when I last did it. A coffee shop, paved areas and no golf ball at Fylingdales. It was a lot busier every time I did it, great craic at support stops with other crews.
My pleasure! I think it’s a lot less popular these days with so much else available . Love hearing stories of evenyone’s crossing though. Good times 👍🏻
