So... Detective Stabler ate a bucket of Chicken in 1988..... Years later, He's still having a bucket of Chicken within the department of the NYPD Organize Crime Bureau and sharing with his boss and his co-workers
When David mentions some of the shows on this channel (aka Local Programming channel, not this RU-vid channel), one show that he mentions is North Jersey 90s. That’s a show that if it lasted into the year 2000, it would obviously needed a name change.
Like I said, this used to be my cable system. I remember watching this show. I’m going to point somethings out - The channel lineup is horribly outdated now. - At the 1:50 mark, they talk about rate increases. Back then, this cable system used to increase their rates annually. They don’t do that anymore and the rates are obviously MUCH HIGHER now. - At the 6:03, they respond to Richard from Washington Township in regards to why they stopped the rebuilding process. They stated that TCI had plans to make 90% of their systems digital by the end of 1997. This system was one of them. They stated that the need for rebuild goes away when you launch digital cable. Shortly after this, James Dolan bought TCI systems (or a good portion of them) and the new company took one look at TCI’s faulty digital cable boxes and temporarily discontinued their digital product and saying they will bring it back in the future (which they did.) The new company also stated that even with digital cable coming, they still need to rebuild (although since their digital product didn’t come back until years later was probably a reason too.) - At 8:36, Teddy from Hackensack calls and wonders why they don’t carry local news. David responds by saying that their system is too big to carry a local news channel like the future Charter Spectrum of Palisades Park still does on channel 10. Charter Spectrum of Palisades Park is a much smaller system. - At 14:20, Jim from Midland Park (my old home town) asks why they don’t carry News 12 NJ. David Capo said that Cablevision, a competitor of theres owns that channel and they are obviously not Cablevision (how ironic is that statement considering that Cablevision the following month announces that they are going to buy some TCI systems (including the Nortgern NJ one.) Dave says that since Cablevision and the Star Ledger co own News 12 and since TCI of Northern NJ has (aka had) an alliance with The Record to do some of the shows that they do. Ironically Dave says if they were to add News 12 NJ, they would have to delete a channel or drop some of the shows on this station (aka the station that aired this show: Local Programming.) Ironically that is almost exactly what happened months later when Cablevision announced that they were buying this system. Local Programming channel carried News 12 NJ as part of that station’s programming before this system carried News 12 NJ full time…without having to drop a channel. Pat Murphy said TKR of Rocklsnd had their own news station (ironically that is a system that TCI purchased in 1996 and then got acquired by Cablevision.) - At 17:08, a caller from Wayne talks about all the vandalism acts that the system had during the spring. David says that they may find a way to thank their customers for their patronage and patience. I don’t think they ever did but I could be wrong. - At 21:00, Melinda from Elmwood Park calls and asks if TCI of Northern NJ is going to get TV Land and how many people need to ask for it for them to do so. David says that he doesn’t know but when this system launches their digital cable system (which originally was going to be called All Tv )(TCI’s version of Optimum) it may be on there. I don’t think it was. (All TV would later be renamed Digital TV.) - After that, David talks about Pat Murphys blossoming sales career. She is now known as Pat Murphy Stark and works for the Invention Chsnnel. - At the end of the show David jokingly says for the next show, they may simulcast Friends just to get more viewers Just some things I wanted to point out.
I love this MSG Network theme. Do you by any chance have recordings of the "monthly" MSG Network bumpers? You know where they said what teams/programming was coming up in the month on MSG Network.
I lived in Northern NJ. This was my cable system. It is now known as Altice USA. Espn is now on channel 36. Channel 17 is now WFUT. The Weather channel is now channel 62. Channel 29 is now the Food Network. The local weather from the NOAA I believe is now long gone. News 12 plus on channel 61 now provides local weather and traffic. Of course, I am talking about standard definition feeds.
As far as the channel lineup changes go, as of 2023, Discovery channel is now on channel 27, Disney channel is now on channel 31, Cinemax I am not sure, TLC is now on channel 28, the future syfy channel is now on channel 48, the history channel is now on channel 47, the future movieplex channel I am not sure, the original court TV is now on channel 58, animal planet is now on channel 57, Cartoon Network is on channel 32, CNBC is now on channel 24, MSNBC is now on channel 23, MSG is now on channel 71, USA is now on channel 38, AMC is now on channel 43, MTV is now on channel 53, Food Network is now on channel 29, HGTV is now on channel 30, Sneak Prevue no longer exists, and neither does Intro TV and the future Knowledge TV. Of course, I am talking about the standard definition feeds.
