I can't envision a scenario where I would seek non-urgent/emergency medical care when travelling. It could take days to get an appointment time with my PCP at home (he doesn't accept walk-ins), and a specialist could take weeks. I might as well make an appointment with one of my regular providers for when I return home.
Great point! Typically you would only schedule an appointment with a “regular” doctor if you frequently visit that area. For example, if you vacation in Florida for 6 months out of the year, you may have a regular family doctor where you stay. If you are just “visiting” an area most people will find an urgent care or visit the emergency room.
