Hi There! Your Computer Friend Connie here. I am here to help you learn more about technology, stay up to date and find valuable tips that will save you time!
💻 Teaching computers since 1991 has given me a lot of experience (well over 25,000+ hours teaching). I love helping others feel comfortable & confident with technology. I will never assume you know everything, heck, I sure don't... there is always so much to learn.
📕On April 29, 2022, I published my first book, Work Smarter with Microsoft OneNote. You can find it on Amazon. Link below.
👉🏻I am here to give you helpful tips, tutorials and advice on programs such as Microsoft 365 - Teams, SharePoint, OneNote, OneDrive, Planner, List, Excel, Word, etc.
🤔When I teach I like to go deeper than the 'just click here' 🖱 method... I want you to learn about the best ways to use your technology for your work. Let's make it practical, fun and relevant.
Hi Connie, this is a great video! Thank you so much for your content. Your hand-drawn elements (red lines) have a very smooth animation. Are you adding these elements in your video editing process or is this an add-on you're utilizing during your screen capture recording? Any insights would be helpful. Thank you again!
Hi. Do you mean, when someone enters data into a file? That is what this video is covering. Maybe I am misunderstanding your question? Let me know. Thanks.
@@MissionComputersgreat, I am currently reading your book on MS OneNote, great content and good narrative, I just wished it was not based on OneNote for Windows 10 as it’s being deprecated. May be the next edition. Bonne continuation!
@@ahmedbouretali2656 I know! At the time of writing OneNote 10 was the most up to date one. If you have any questions about the differences, please reach out and ask. I use both versions.
ugh, I miss my tabs across the top AND seeing all the sections and notebook along the side. Is that option gone now? It literally changed the way it looked today while I was working, suddenly different...what the heck...
Are you working with OneNote in Teams? If so, check out this video on how to get your Sections back. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LsSvKGyDSdg.htmlsi=-Blyt06Pfxh2h8Q7
Friendly advice - work on your audio. Namely - so called early reflections (audio bumping back and forth between walls of your room). If you dump those with some audio foam (or at least with curtains, thick carpet, soft blankets) - the perceived quality of your vids will jump up immediately. It is surprising how much effect you can get with this trick. Otherwise very good vid! Not many people notice details that you cover.
Thank you! Great work around! Once the auto generated 'Notes' tab has been removed, do you know if there is a way to re-generate that specific view WITHOUT deleting the channel and re-creating it. For instance, I removed the auto generated tab/view from the channel but later decided that the auto generated tab/view would be more advantageous in a couple of the channels...can I duplicate that view without deleting the channel and rebuilding it??
Whoops! Upon more mature reflection I think this problem has been solved. You just have to "follow" the particular channel and THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE IN SHAREPOINT. So you go to teams and then to the related "Files" site and choose "Open in Sharepoint" from the 3-dot menu and then in the upper right corner is an option with a star to FOLLOW the team. Do that and - voila - this problem of the sites not showing up goes away.
How do I search for a specific folder in Outlook? My email has a lot of folders (a folder within a folder within a folder). I can't find the option to search for a folder name. The only thing I was able to find was a certain email and the search window shows which folder it is in but the exact path of the folder is not listed
Hello! Is this latest version of Onenote only available with MS 365 subscription? Or can I get somehow in another way as well? Like Office 2019 or 2021? I'm using Windows 10. Thank you!
Hi. This is the latest version of OneNote. Most features should be in your version, I will double-check. Was there something that did not work the same for you?
@@MissionComputers Hi! So yes, I have OneNote for Windows 10 and also this old version that has this purple-colored theme as default (I think it's OneNote 2016). I don't have MS 365 subscription and I would like to know if it's possible to get the latest version as well without the subscription? If I downloaded the Onenote app from the MS Store and installed it, it still opened up the oldest version of OneNote.
@@acoast84 I think what happens is when you download OneNote it looks at what version of Office you have and matches OneNote to that. Not 100% sure, maybe check with your IT people :).
Are you kidding me!!!! I'm in video 2 of this series and I've already learned so many valuable tools. Thanks for making these! I genuinely appreciate it.
Team Owners have the ability to archive a Team. Go to 'Your Teams', it's under the ellipsis at the top of the main list of Teams in the app. In the list click the ellipsis on the right hand side of the Team you want to archive and click 'Archive' from the list, no admin role necessary.
This was very helpful, thank you. I still have one open question. When you open OneNote in your Teams Channel, do you know if there's a way to display the Sections and Pages menus by default without having to click on the 'book/library' icon first? If you know a solution, I'd love to see this video 🙂
Thanks for your hard work Connie. I have a Class Homepage with the default Class Schedule (Group Calendar). Is there a way to have this calendar I just created using your steps appear with the 3 latest events visible on the homepage?
Question: do the approvers have to be added to this particular channel manually or would it add them automatically when I setup the approval process and add the email address to the request?
Good question. They would need to be members of the channel already. If this is a standard channel then, as long as they are members of the Team, they are members of the channel. Hope this helps.
It looks like the New Outlook does not populate the OneNote subject with the Meeting invite subject Plus the Date. The previous Outlook automatically created the OneNote and appended the Date of the meeting in the Subject line. Any idea ow we can automatically add it?. I discovered that if you add the Note directly in OneNote and linked the meeting then it appends the Date to the subject, but I am looking to do the same if you initiate the process from the New Outlook. Thank you
Do you have vertical lines that look like books? If so then you are in OneNote for Windows 10. Otherwise, if you have the Tabs Layout (button found in View Toolbar), as horizontal, it does not show these lines - so change your Tabs Layout to vertical. Let me know how it goes.
A helpful workaround due to the fact that Microsoft isn't fast enough to implement a seamless integration :-) There is only one disadvantage at this workaround: for the new private Planner an additional SharePoint Site-Collection will be created for the content you upload to the tasks.
Why are their certain emails, that are sent to the correct account, where this doesn't work? I really dislike the new Outlook because of stuff like this
Not sure of your question here. Can you give me an example. The new Outlook is definitely different... there are a lot of features from the old Outlook that I hope get re-introduced.
Can the host see the result, while NEVER involved in voting himself ? In other words, if you don't click 'submit vote ', would you be able to get the result 'live' in the meeting room?
Love your videos, so easy to follow and great tips. Thanks so much, I'm looking forward to exploring ways of marking my files with doc type rather than using folders!
Big like for you Very well explained. They make it so difficult to use the Microsoft tools, Always a new error around the corner. Spent hours troubleshooting over 10 errors installing new version of Office. You just saved me an hour for sure !
Not sure how this is even a workaround. All you are doing there is creating a totally separate Planner (with it's own M365 Group) and then making that accessible from the Private Channel, where you now have two places to manage members. This is mad, but that's Microsoft for you. Private channels do not create M365 Groups, and that's why you can't associate a Planner with them. Massive oversight, because I have individuals wanting their own Planners in Teams because ToDo/Tasks aren't as good. But, this means we would have loads of M365 Groups created for just one individual, which is not great.
If you are suggesting that someone wants a planner just for themselves, but wants to access it through Teams, then the solution is to add the Planner app to the side toolbar (on the left). Maybe I am not understanding your situation. I agree that private channels and no planner is an issue - I'm just the messenger here :). Your comments are appreciated.
Thank you so much for this workaround. Been struggling for hours to get my hands back on my OneNote Sections. Bad UX design from Microsoft on this one unfortunately
