so fun fact about the original story of charlie and the chocolate factory by roald dahl, charlie was black. it was originally called charlie's chocolate boy or charlie chocolate boy if im remembering correctly, but was changed i think due to someone pointing out to dahl about how it could be perceived as racist (i think charlie was also a slang term for black boy back then too). interestingly enough however he didn't remove the racism that was the oompa loompas. i also love older movies for the texture. things just look so much more real not overly produced like a lot of recent films. i love buying older sweets when i get the chance. i feel like theyre more common to enjoy decades later here in the uk. I feel like a willy wonka drag routine would go so hard. if you like musicals theres a charlie and the chocolate factory musical. (mrs teevee actually didn't know the song, she confidently said the wrong composer. the egg room in the book is a nut room with giant squirrels but that was too difficult for the film)
Nice reaction :) By the way, it's not really a "love triangle" since Leia Kissed Luke only to pissed Han off and get him jealous. Both of them have this kind of foreplay in each scenes (trying to piss of one and other ^^). Also, if Luke wanted to pursued Vader is because he was trying to eliminate him definetly. Remember he wanted revenge for his family and also because of what he did to his friends and Han. There is even a deleted scene where Vader is taunting Luke by reminding he was responsalible for burning alive his uncle and aunt. I would also like to suggest you the perfect order to react to them for a 1st watch : Now that you watched episode 5 (and had that revelation) you should go back and react to the prequels as a flashback to know what happened and then watch episode 6 at last since it was always considared to be seen as the very last epic conclusion to the whole saga. In others words, this is the order I'm talking about : -episode 4 and 5 -episode 1,2,3 -Rogue one -And finally episode 6 Sorry for my bad english and for the long comment ;)
Just going to throw this out there, but if you really want to know _who_ the bad guys are, and what makes them the bad guys, and _why_ there is a rebellion against them (beyond what's obvious), you should seriously consider watching the show Andor. This movie sets the Empire up as a pretty straightforward black & white/good vs evil "force of resistance" against the heroes - but Andor shows you _exactly_ why the Empire is so evil and feared, and it's so amazing for it. And it's not just good and answers those questions, but a lot us who have watched it agree it's one of if not the best thing to come out of Star Wars since the original films.
30:30 Why isn't Luke leaving with his friends and instead pursuing Vader? It'll be easier to explain after you've seen the next movie, but the non-spoiler answer is that he's interested in confronting Vader. Looking forward to the next one!
Info in case no one else said it yet: Katniss's hunger games were the 74th and 75th, so 64/65 years after this movie takes place. Also, re: is Katniss connected to Lucy Gray? It's not confirmed, but there are theories about this one. I can't remember all the details of the theory, but fans believe that Maude Ivory (the blonde girl who kicks off Lucy Gray's performance at the reaping) was eventually Katniss's grandmother (father's mother). This would explain the passing down of the hanging tree song, as well as the lullaby Katniss sings to Prim and Rue in the first movie. (Lucy Gray sings that one in the Songbirds and Snakes book, but I don't think they included it in the movie. What a shame!)
Darla was straight for the streets yo. 1) She made Alfalfa have a picnic at the club she was not allowed at, because she wanted. 2) She flirted with Waldo in front of Alfalfa, called him a hunk, and said he smelled better. All in front of homie. 3) Went with and started dating Waldo amost immediately after breaking up with Alfalfa. 4) While still dating Waldo, talks sweet about Alfalfa saying "He makes me melt like a popsicle, on the 4th of July." 5) Nearly ruined a life long friendship for sh!ts and giggles.
Fun (not actually fun) fact from when this movie was in production, I guess there was huge outrage from people who didn't expect Rue to be black? Because even though she's explicitly described as having dark skin in the books, the fact that Katniss saw her sister in Rue led people to believe she literally LOOKED like Prim (blonde with blue eyes). There's a great RU-vid video called "The Day Rue 'Became' Black" if you want a better explanation!
In Order of the Phoenix, there is a strong theme of people believing what the media tells them and overrelying on the Ministry's word. "Because Dumbledore said so" isn't a good enough reason for many people, especially those who don't _want_ Voldemort to be back. There are a lot of parallels to Voldemort's return and the rise of WW2. Europe had just finished a massive war and no one wanted to believe a second, bigger one was on the rise. But the truth is, both were inevitable.
This movie is probably half of what's in the book..or less. There were a whole lot of shennanigans going on at Hogwarts this year. 😂 As a member of the Ministry Mr. Weasley had to go try and stop the Death Eaters. That's why he put Fred and George in charge of making sure Ginny was safe. What the Death Eaters were doing in the book to the muggle family who ran that part of the campgrounds was awful. Ron's oldest 2 brothers, Bill and Charlie, were there and also went to help. So did Percy.
Sirius _was_ half crazy. Being in Azkaban for an extended period will do that to anyone. In the book, he broke into Gryffindor Tower with a knife and scared the crap out of Ron. As for how Sirius escaped? He oftentimes remained in his dog form, which gave him some protection from the effects of the Dementors. An animal's emotions are harder for Dementors to suck out. He was so underfed and thin that he slipped through the bars of his cell and _swam_ to the mainland. Azkaban is on an uncharted island in the middle of the North Sea. So in other words, a long ass journey, all the while making sure the British Ministry of Magic doesn't find him.
I haven’t watched this movie I was more a fan of the books especially the first book. Not gonna lie didn’t watch all the movies til they were on apps 😂.
Nice job! I would love to see your reaction to "Flawless" with Robert De Niro as a cop and Philip Seymour Hoffman as a drag queen who get to be friends.
This was my one of my favorite childhood movies back when I was 5 years old. [Fun Fact: After reading the script, Gene Wilder said he would take the role of Willy Wonka under one condition: that he would be allowed to limp and then suddenly somersault in the scene when he first meets the children. When director Mel Stuart asked why, Wilder replied that having Wonka do this meant that "from that time on, no one will know if I'm lying or telling the truth." Stuart asked, "If I say no, you won't do the picture?" Wilder said, "I'm afraid that's the truth."]
The ironic thing is, the director apparently had to ask Veruca Salt's actress to be even _more_ spoiled and rotten because Julie Dawn Cole was the exact opposite of her character. Suffice it to say, I think she pulled it off. 😂
It wasn't mentioned in the movies but District 13 and the Capitol made a deal during the First Rebellion: The Capitol would leave District 13 alone. District 13 will be independent, "not exist", and not help the other Districts anymore. They did this because they both have the nukes and they know that if they resort to it, the whole country will be done. They bombed the "aboveground" of 13 for effect though. That's how they made the other Districts surrender. That was why 13 was underground in the books. They had it hard at first, because they had no one else to rely on. But they survived. The Capitol expected them to perish eventually. The effed up thing was 13 was the one that instigated the First Rebellion in the first place. 😅 Then they just peaced out, and let the rest of the Districts deal with the consequences. They sorta did it again this time and Coin is messed up with that bombing and Hunger Games for Capitol children.
13 sucks. It's understandable with their limited resources but everything, EVERYTHING is controlled when it comes to resources and time. They get a temporary tattoo everyday of their schedule (it only washes off at the end of the day) that they must follow. Katniss got away at first because she was treated like a mental patient. And the FOOD. They only give you enough so you can function and follow your sched until your next meal. It also depends on your needs, height, weight, etc. Lastly, they only accepted the people from 12 because many people and kids died from a disease a few years ago. So they need more kids and people to make more kids with... The vibes in 13 from Katniss' POV is very suffocating (add to it being underground). Again, understandable why, but it doesn't erase the ick feeling.
Yeah... Katniss really isn't thinking about romance after the Games. And Gale pushes it with his sadboi moments. Bruh, as you have seen, Katniss is going through it and you wanna kiss? 🤦♀️ 🚩🚩🚩
"Why did it have to be kids?" You probably know already but I haven't seen a comment talk about it yet. It's because the District rebelled before so it was a flex and a threat. The Capitol won and they can do whatever tf they want to District kids but they're being "generous" by "only" picking 2 kids every year, so they better not rebel again if they don't want more kids getting hurt.
