Welcome to Pedal With Power!

My name is Chris and my goal is to keep you riding!

Whether through -
-Teaching you how to keep your bike functioning at its peak, or
-Just to help show you which bike might suit you best.

I am passionate about electric bikes and believe they are a great way for many people to start replacing trips in the car, get into shape, and have less reliance on gas.

I am not sponsored by any bike company and will only give my own opinions based on real-world testing and what has worked for me. I try to only cover things I have personally bought and used. (with occasional suggestions)

I believe that you should ride your bike your way while showing respect to others. There's room for everyone.
It's your bike, make it your own!

I have been a professional bike mechanic for over 20 years and will show you how to work on your own bike so that you can save time and money by not having to bring it to the shop.

So.....I thought this was a video focusing on how to get your heavy bike into a repair stand but you used up half the video describing how to remove the battery out of your Lectric bike which only about maybe 3% of us will have.

If my bike goes up to 20mph, I'd rather the single gear. I went with the lectric XP lite 2.0. 7speed is better on a regular bike.

Thanks so much for this video. My only problem was in trying to remove that Phillips head screw. You did mention it was a "funny" screw. I decided to leave it alone, but had to use the "L" shaped wrench to get to the 6mm bolt. Since I didn't have the leverage with the preferred Park Tool, I took my rubber mallet and hit the smaller wrench a few times to loosen it up. I was a success. Turning around the handlebars is a game changer for me. I have learned so much from you. Also, your video on adjusting the derailleur on my XP 2.0 saved me. You're the BEST!

How is this freewheel holding up? I have read that the teeth are thinner and the plating is crap. How does it feel? Thanks for the great video, btw!

I got flat rear tire by a staple last week and my local pro shop don’t patch it. Replace inner tube plus labor $45. Asked to add Slime for extra, he said waste of money. Exactly a week later I got flat again. This time I learned and patch myself. Will add slime or flat out soon. Thanks for this video. I’ll have to replace both tires soon with road tires. Hope I can do it on my own. Thanks for this helpful video.

Excellent, thanks to this video I managed to solve my problems . ( clicking sound of loose spokes). Saved me bringing it to the bike shop ( long waiting list ) and saved me 75 CHF. Just observing the exposed threads ( a little more difficult mine were black and not silver) helped tremendously. Tightening is counter-clockwise. I don't know why Chatgpt said otherwise. Thanks again.

Thanks for showing us this but it’s no longer fun when a cyclist has to fix their bike especially more than a couple of times a year-and only very basic fixes. Have a ten year old General Motors car still like new, and all I’ve ever done was get an oil change and a lube when the car’s computer reminds me. That’s the kinda bike I have. Very low maintenance hybrid with front and rear derailleurs . Have maybe eight thousand miles of urban miles on it! Great bike that can take me pretty much anywhere I want to go. Don’t understand why people seem to have a need to work on their bikes so much. Are they abusing their two wheeler?

I thought that a oof the parts on the Shimano were connectd with Torx wrenches. I tried to use the Torx tool that matched but it woudnt move. My hanger is snapped in half so I neeed to take the old one off. Where can I get a derailleur hanger, and DONT SaY Lectrick. They have never been helppful at all. I didnt have thaatsafety washer for the Gear side and they said "Buy a new bike".

i have a 20x4.0 rim but can a 20x3.0 innertube fit and work for a 20x4.0 ? Lets say if i don"t have a 20x4.0 innertube can a 20x3.0 be a substitute ? My next question is what if i have 20x4.0 inserts can a 20x3.0 innertube fit inside a 20x4.0 inserts ? if so what will be the psi to fill the tire up ?

Great vid very helpful. I have it shifting smooth and no noise, I think my derailer is shot, I cant seem to go from 1st to 2nd. Once I shift to 3rd it hits second then goes fine through the gears but will not hit 7th. It will only go up to 6th.

@pondacres Месяц назад
I did this on my XP 3 thx to your vid, it's such a great little hack! I find that throttle on this thing really lacks finesse when twisting it, whereas a thumb throttle very much helps that. I used a very thick zip tie, leaving some of the "tail" sticking out...gives more "real estate" for the thumb to rest on it.

I dont have a safety washer on the gear side. lThe company insists that I lost it but thats impossible. I would have t remove everything to get it off. I asked them to send me a safety washer. But everytime I do this I spend many hours bahging onthe axle with q hammer. I get it done but It involves lifing it up readjusting until magiclly in finally goes all the way into the slot. I dont see how people just drop the axle in the slot I would pay somebody 50 bucks to ido this infront of me

At 3:49, I think it's better to *leave the barrel adjuster a few turns out* rather than screwing it all the way in. I had a cable snap at the caliper once, and because I had some slack in the line, I was able to loosen the adjuster, pull the cable through to compensate, and keep riding until I could get a new one.

I had my 2.0 for a year and didn't ride it. Got my wife a 3.0 and we rode a 100 miles in a week. They are a blast. Then mine started falling apart. Customer support covered my sprocket. These videos help me understand the glitches. But in all everything needs maintenance. Plus there Customer service. That itself makes lectric a brand to buy.
@pondacres
@pondacres Месяц назад
Nice! I gotta do this, or at least something along those lines. The ghost pedaling thing gets to me, I wish this thing (3.0) had an 8th gear. Or, I'd gladly sacrifice the current lowest gear for a higher 7th gear.

Love all your videos. Did the Going to the Sun Road. West to East, then east to west. Almost to the Summit West to East, to Logan Pass (the summit) east to west. It is about 11 miles west to east 6.5 east to west, to the summit. 3.5-8.5%. Did a bit under half either way. And shut down. Definitely heat. From there, stopped 5 minutes, could do another mile or so (next overlook). Worst grade needed legs, ran about 9 mph. An XPedition, over 15 mph, never overheated. But he was stopping with me!
