Love this bishop and seen the introduction as an attack to discourage the people that were about to listen to and turned of. Sorry that this happened as he is the most wonderful speaker l have ever heard and so many people would have been but of by the introduction. So so sad. Keep going Bishop Barron l think your wonderful and an inspiration. May the Lord bless you
6 Apr 2014 - Cardinal Nichols repeated his view that it was "a disgrace" that people continued to suffer destitution in a country as rich as the UK. You said that 10 years ago. Tell me what has changed in that 10 years, and I will tell you. People are dying on hospital trolleys, 300,000 homeless, food bank explosion, and people working but cannot afford to live, then we have same-sex married couples, transgender rights, and a total breakdown in our society caused by greed, my MP voted for full term abortions and how many MPs want Euthanasia And you are telling our young to vote for it to continue. I am a Great Grandfather and I have told all mine not to vote and if you do vote and to vote for an independent standing in your area, What choice does the UK have, a Billionaire or a Knight of the Realm who leads the Labour party for the low-paid workers, you could not make this up. You should be telling people to keep away from this farce, you wrote that 10 years ago and things have gotten 10 times worse not better. You are like a compulsive gambler who thinks the next one will be a winner. I have said my Rosaries for today but going to say tomorrow's Rosary for you and praying the Blessed Virgin can enlighten you.
I have been barred from voting, there is a 500 mtr exclusion zone around polling stations, cannot even support any party in my head, it's the Law. Gods Law. I said I would vote for any candidate who was against abortion, and not one even mentioned it. Catholics cannot vote for any candidate that supports abortion. Full Stp. Regarding Voting for parties, they are all the same, take it from someone who has watched 15 years of Tories, 15 years of Labour then 14 years of Tories again, the poor get poorer, and the rich get richer and that has happened every one of the 60 years I have witnessed. Don't vote, if you vote then you are the problem as you keep on enabling it, and that's a fact.
No, it was not a good message, see what he said 10 years ago and see how things have got a lot worse, and now he is trying to take our young into the same unfair system, telling young your MP will listen to them, never ever had an MP do what they said they were going to do after lying to get the vote, whether Labour or Torie they always attack the poor and have the poor attacking each other with the deserving poor and non-deserving poor.
I think the church should be honest about sexuality once and for all. I think the church should be honest about homosexuality in particular is hiding behind a mask of heterosexuality and heteronormativity. I like the idea of poverty versus plenty being a challenging campaign; yet, I see the church as a rich, powerful, materialistic organisation which nullifies its moral authority.
The good cardinal made some worthwhile points, while being very careful to remain neutral between the parties. I especially liked the way he spoke about abortion and euthanasia, without labouring the point and recognising these issues are not the be all and end-all of issues to be considered. He also stressed the importance of participation-democracy isn't a spectator sport. Imagine a US cardinal-refusing Communion to anyone who votes for reproductive rights ie vote Trump and the QOP.
Thank you for this statement. I’ve always said our commitment to life from womb to natural death needs to include an absolute and vocal opposition to nukes especially but all armaments more broadly. It shows definitively that we are neither left wing or right wing but just Catholic
there is no mystery to the mass. it was manufactured by the roman catholic church in an attempt to claim it is partially responsible for salvation and faith, and denies that Christ's death on the cross was sufficient for salvation by itself.
I was at Cofton Park on that special day. It was very poignant as I lost my dear Mother two days beforehand. She was thrilled I was going being a devout Irish Catholic and was looking forward to hearing all about the visit from me but it sadly wasn’t to be. It was a very sad but beautiful day and one I will always remember. God bless St John Henry Newman, Pope Benedict and my dear Mother.
