What you are looking at in this video are the remnants of giant petrified trees, once you see it you cannot unsee it. I have put a link at the end of this comment to a RU-vid video showing you the truth. Also, you do not live on a spinning globe Earth and and it is as easy as this to understand... The ability of water to always find its level is NOT a 'conspiracy theory', it is a practically demonstrable, repeatable and verifiable scientific fact, and objective reality with tangible substance. Bodies of water, ie. ponds, lakes, oceans, CANNOT hold permanent convexity across their surface. Bodies of water CANNOT conform to the exterior of shapes. When there is the very slightest of inclinations to the surface of a body of water it will always flow and find its level, in a horizontal straight line from the starting point to the end point regardless of distance. Supposed curvature has NEVER been measured. The Earth is demonstrably level. Regarding the impossible reference frame known as the 'vacuum of space', nature abhors a vacuum. It is impossible to have the Earth's pressurised gaseous system coexisting directly next to a vacuum without a physical solid barrier separating them, it would want to equilibrate, the Earth's pressurised gaseous system would need a physical solid barrier to contain it... scientific fact. The Earth is demonstrably level. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-loBrrDxJeNc.htmlsi=Sj5kwru0uGQu_qVD

We missed him a lot, I still watch his works repeatedly since the first time I saw them when I was student in high school 12 years ago. Now I am an English teacher at another high school and I make my students watch his works to raise their awareness of environment and our beautiful earth. He is indeed a great man, I'd even once attempted creating a fan page of him on facebook but it did not work.

Iain there has been an absolutely massive earthquake today in the south, near where the infamous 115 Antioch earthquake was. Equal largest ever recorded in Turkey! Over 1000 dead so far, it will get to 50,000.

24 years after the 1999, it is sad that a majority of the city has unsafe buildings and its population has exploded. It infuriates me that the discussion has always been about 'when is it going to happen?'and not about 'what needs to be done before it happens?' We all know buildings need to be rebuilt, hospitals/airports/tunnels/bridges need to be safe. But as city residents we should be informed about all possible scenarios - what is going to happen with water/sewage ways, electricity, communications, gas? what about fires, how are we to combat those? what about collapsing bridges/roads? what about transportation? whole of the city will be completely blocked with traffic. Millions will either be left homeless so where are they going to stay or more importantly, toilets??? clean water? food? Or basic security - police? I'm sure/hope the world will come to our help asap but why aren't we better prepared?

I was a tech writer for 20 years, so I understand how difficult it can be to communicate complex subjects. I'm also a big fan of science and an American, and I've seen politics interfere with the communication and understanding of scientific subjects in my country. So I just downloaded the article referenced at the end of the video, because it might be one of the few scientific papers I can actually understand beyond the abstract. It's an important subject, but I'm a bit perturbed that a RU-vid video has turned into homework. I thought this place was about funny animals and such.

Iain what the scary part about Istanbul's risk is the rapid growth the city has experienced since the 1920's. It has increased from 800k to now over 16 million. A lot of the growth is in those orange and red zones from that Japanese map. Very few cities on the planet have such a long earthquake history and it seems that the uncontrolled growth has forgotten about this. I think we'll see a 6 digit death toll when a large earthquake hits.

As a turkish structural engineer all I can say is: I use this coulomb failure presentation in my own presentations too, however , the real problem is: turkish people are not aware of seismic retrofit of existing structures process - the only way that can help istanbul. And they can not afford it, government must help. Seismic retrofit of an existing building is only 0,25-0,40 of new building cost. But still this is expensive.

I have a geological question. I’ve noticed that there have been numerous seismic events worldwide over the past few weeks or more. Earthquakes, increased volcanic activity, landslides and flash floods all leave me curious as to why now? Is there a significance to these events, or am I just being overly concerned. There isn’t much seismic activity in the area of Ontario, Canada where I reside, although I have experienced two minor earthquakes in my life. There’s a fault line under Lake Ontario and when I lived in Toronto there was a quake strong enough to dislodge the kitchen cupboards off the wall. Here in eastern Ontario where I now live, there was a mild earthquake with an epicentre in Quebec Provence several years ago. Shook my house a bit, no damage. Pardon my rambling, but I’m concerned about the recent activity I’ve heard of in the news and seen on RU-vid. Thanks, by the way, for your intriguing documentaries. I’ve seen all of them on BBC Earth on cable TV. I enjoy them immensely.

@walterblack7426 3 года назад
i've heard that it is expected to happen in a very near future because there were three time periods when the scientists announced a possible Marmara earthquake. 2000-2010(%14), 2010-2020(%32), 2020-2030(%64) these are numbers that i can remember now, but the last one, %64...im sure about it and its realy high😩
